I know I've been here before with this but i'm stuffed. I have established that i have a leak in the vacuum hose somewhere as the darn thing switches air to screen when going up hills with a fair clip o fan blowin. BUT I cannont find anything other than a little hose junction ion the engine bay passenger side on firewall at top, and it looks gud. Can anyone point me to the trail of hoises and the flap it controls etc. or maybe a manual diagram as without pullin ouit the dash I can't see s**t! (and i really don't want to do the dash, did my XE many years ago and it was a right and proper c**t of a job and some parts never made it back in, not includin the snapped brackets) Thanks inadvance and any and all help appreciated

i thought the climate control was motor driven and not vacuum driven....?

All the vents are still vacuum operated with CC, just the blend door is motor operated. Remove your glovebox and you should be able to see some of the hoses behind it.

Did you ever fix this problem? I am asking because mine is doing the same, however I know I don't have a vacuum leak as the hoses hold vacuum overnight. The problem only occurs on hot days and only going up long steep hills.

mine used to do that (not CC though) under evs, turned out to be a split in a hose behind that dash!!!!

I can't see how I can have a split in a hose, if I disconnect a hose after leaving the car overnight, heaps of air rushes in. So it must be holding vacuum.

think about it
if you have a leaky radiator hose, it only pisses out hot water under revs. The split is too small to leak under normal pressure, only leaks under load. which also means you gotta look for it under load methinks? or you'd never find the mongrel Say does anyone know what part of dash that hose was behind and easiest way to get to it (don't say remove dash as per docu's in here)

You may be right there, but how does it explain that it only occurs on hot days? I can drive up steep long hills on cooler days (24deg) and not have a problem. Engine is still under load and still has ac going.

i have noticed its a fan speed prob independent of temp of day
at night i have turned fan up high manually (why on a cc i do not know why) and with enuf slope on car, it slips! its a component of enough grade to make air gate fall open versus too much fan pressure helping push it over which means not enough pressure in hose to stop gate doing that i.e. leak Just cuz i can't find the damn hose or leak does not mean the mechanics are lost on me! hope this helps!

unfortunally u want to check all the hoses, then yes u do need to pull out the dash as per doccos. Really it is not all the hard

Thats the attitude Paul!! I told you its not hard, and you too now see the light Its 15-30 mins to pull the dash completly out.

yeah it was just a prick that is all but in relatity it is not THAT hard. I didn't end up ripping the whole thing out (too lazy really)

i am resigned to rippin it out do you recommend any quick, cheap and easy mods i should carry out whilst its all ripped? (please not led's as i've read it and convinced it ain't worth it!)

is that the one round the stereo, vents, trip comp, dash gauges headlights switch and so on?
if so be good but would not i have to color code some others like door trims, sentre console surround etc.? saw that red one but there was too much red, less is best!
