hi all .. i dunno if this is a stoopid question or not, but is it possible to paint the interior (dash, trims, etc) with the same colour as the paint of the car?
I know there is specific vinyl paint used for this, but i was thinkin of paintin, at least some, of the interior using some left over paint i had when i sprayed my front guard ... or, is there a vinyl "primer" type paint i can use before i spray the colour i want? |

if you dont use the vinyl paint, the paint wont stay on the interior. thats what vinyl paint is for.

I used car paint on my plastics (see pics), no primer or anything, just a few layers, and it still looks fine. This was over a year ago.

I used a bit of car colour paint on, my air vents and little dash spear where the passenger aur bag normaly is and it adds a nice touch. Id recomend doing the dash black as too much car colour will ruin it, the highlights stick out enough as it is.

depends on what you wish to paint solid plastics e.g. kick panales, scuff plates ,radio surrounds ect you can do in any paint realy as i used engine paint as was a cheap bastard and didnt want to pay for all these cans of paint,HOWEVER soft flexable things like seats, gear boots, and dash padding have to be done in vinyl paint as the paint allows movment without cracking and peeling so no u cant use a vinyl as a primer cause the top paint will just crack and peel

Mate I honestly can say the black looks awsome. But if you would like that car colour look on a few bits and peices to add a nice little touch a can is like $20 from an auto shop and they mix it while you wait. Looks pretty damn close to the paint outside. All you need to do is clean really well, prime and paint.

UPDATE: ... well, i have decided to do bits of the dash n door trim etc to match the exterior, but have hit a dilemma. I dont know if its a good idea to do the majority of the interior black with just a few bits of colour (green), im thinking it gonna be to much black and look kind of 'mono-tone' ... any thoughts would be great?
