The alarm is one thing... but to get the Remote Start to work, the easiest way (i presume), is to get a second ignition barrel, take the smartlock plug from the steering column, connect it to the second ign barrel (hidden away somewhere) with the key in it and turned on.
This should trick smartlock into thinking there is a key in the ignition, therefore, disabling smartlock Not sure if this works on AU's, as they have the transponder keys?

He has an AU2 so therefore has Smartshield.... dont bother with remote start.. its only there for wank factor IMHO

Rigging it to work with a transponder setup should be difficult either. You just need to dismantle a key and remove the transmitting part and have it within range of the ignition inductor ring (whatever its called)
If you wanna be dodgy about it, you could just zip tie a spare key under the shroud or something. Doesn't provide much security though I'd say bypassing a transponder setup would be much easier to do than a smartlock bypass, as you wouldn't need any extra barrel or module - just an extra key you were willing to butcher for the RFID section of it. As for wank factors... I put remote start in my EB because I worked till midnight/2am doing nightfilling years ago. Its mighty nice being able to hop straight into a pre warmed/cooled car in the middle of the night

I started work at 3 pm every day. So my car was sitting in the sun all day, getting nice and warm. I'd have it on AC and start it 10 mins before I drove off.
I finished at 12/2 in the morning. It was either stinking hot, or freezing cold - season dependant. It was a comfort factor to have it, also, the challenge to build it myself from scratch (no aftermarket start module)

just tape a spare blank key to the bottom of the key barrel and use old style keys etc...

has anyone considered implanting their transponder under their skin? that way it will only start if your in the vicinity.

What i would do is dismantle the transpodner key and glue the PCB inside the BEM housing, nice and factory looking. But would make your car more prone to theft unless another alarm is fitted.
Then use a E series Ign key

So long as you also move the pickup loop that surrounds the ignition barrel - thats what excites the transponder key and picks up the RF code. The keys don't have a great range.

if u want the be able to turn AC on without ur car being stolen, have an ef key cut for ur AU then the ignition works fine but when u try to pull ur shifter into reverse its stuck, also if u put ur foot on the accelerator while the ef key is in use nothing happens

Hay i was told that you could only put keyless remote start on auto cars by the law, is this a real fact? makes sence coz u can easly leave a car in gear, hell i do it and still jump foward sometimes when i hit the key! opps.
