I dont get why your cutting studs??

Most rims have an indent on the back next to the stud holes. I used normal stocko wheel nuts to hold the spacers in place, and they stick out probably a cm further out than the actual spacer.


mystro - your cars not lowered is it?
My 17s with 30mm spacers hit the lip on the rear wheel arch, but after 'rolling' the lip they are fine.

its not the normal wheels that's why..

the adapters work like the center of the wheel but have studs for the rim on them so it brings the Tyre away from the body of the car to clear and stop scrubbing.. i personally don't like the idea tho.

i hope you don't pay comprehensive insurance?

Nothing against hub adaptors, just warning there's no point in you forking out the dollars when insurance won't cover you while using them.

I have only seen hub adapters fail when they are fitted with incorrect bolts, so make sure the bolt is long enough to bed and not bottom out.

Also be careful when cutting studs that you don't put them under massive fluctuations of heat (aka smashing an angle grinder through it in 3 seconds), as this leads to a metal becoming more brittle.

I know how adaptors work ausedwagon - I have them..... I realise what they are for..... I asked why theyre cutting studs... not some newbies idea on what they think theyre for and how they work...

ok well u didnt make that tooo clear in your own post... the studs are longer from what i can gather reading back through the thread.

do u have a better idea rather than cut the studs?

HAHA buy wheels that fit standard?

My mate didn't need to cut his studs to run his wheels, although whether they have divots (for lack of a better term) in the back of the rim to accomodate them I could not say.

ok guys, i have the replacement rim, and set of adapters now.

I thought i would quickly try them (with the damaged rim, no tyre) on the car to see how it goes. turns out i don't need to cut the original studs shorter (can't see a reason why...) the only concern i have is the wheel sticks out of the body abit (not sure if this is normal)?

I took a photo to show u. The rims are 19"x8

so my question is, will i be right to use these rims now? Im guessing ill need to get the guards rolled? will i need to fit a camber kit when i get a wheel alignment? and is it ok to use 245/35-r19 tyres?

its hard to tell from that pic, would be better if i could see the top part of the guard in the first pic.

But it does look like it sticks out too far, my wheels are all inside the guards on the rear...I didn't even have to get the guard rolled with superlows (but then I was conscious of this when i drove over bumpy things).

If its sticking past the guards then no amount of rolling will help...

from that pic, too big, legally, your wheels cannot exceed the body work of your vehicle, don't think they enforce that one though, look at all the raised up roided up school bus 4x4's getting round with wheels exceeding the bodywork. I'm not gonna open the arguement of adaptors/spacers, looks like you have made your own decision on that.

You are sure your rims aren't pre-au? (I don't know if that model came in pre AU or not...haha or whether, god forbid, the replacement for some reason is the wrong offset).
