Ok well today at work i had an idea....kind of far fetched but i want to do some reasearch to see if it can be done or im just dreaming

What does the climate control box talk to in the E series cars. Basically what i would like to do is wire up an E series Climate control module to my landau.

Could this be done? or does the climate control work of the bem and such.

All advise is greatly appreciated as i know this sounds like a f**k question lol

from my understanding, its stand alone, it simply interfaces with the sensors and heaterbox.

Well here's the block diagram for EF/L Climate Control.

Image

In your other post tho your talking about a BA dash, etc to go into the Landau so you'd want to go with BA climate unless your tossing up on EF/L interior or BA.

I was thinking of getting a Landau and fitting NF/DF interior and BA running gear for a project but I've decided to go sick on the Fairlane instead.

Still might get one if one comes along at the right price and condition, just love the old coupes when they're dropped to the ground with huge rubber underneath, Phat as!!! :D

yeah the other post wasnt mine, theres no way id put a ba dash in, too much work. I was thinking if i could just retro fitting climate control into the landau dash as its a pretty nice looking dash. But i would consider EL dash or even au. Depends on dimentions of a***, I dont want to have to modify the look of the EL dash to get it in.

Thanks for the diagram, u SHOULD get a coupe as there getting fairly rare these days. Ive been on cloud nine since i got mine after 3 years looking :)

Needs plenty of work though

I am not sure what the feed is from the EEC, but after fitting the EMS, i have lost climate, Aircon(the compressor doesnt start), my thermos and tacho. When Joe gets out of Hospital and back to work, i am sure he will get it sorted. Damn V8's. The 6 is sooo much easier to fit the EMS to. None of theses problems.

Im not sure what ECU system (if any) a Landau runs, but I'll assume it will have none. I'll also assume it has already a self contained operating A/C system.

Your main issue will be the ECU inputs into the CC unit.

The EL non CC & CC aircon systems are pretty much the same, and their inputs/outputs to the ECU are independent from the extra connections that go from the ECU to the CC unit.
These extra connections are from the ECU to the CC unit:
1. A/C compressor on/off,
2. blower fan top speed &
3. ECU datalink.

Well 1. can be spiced into the compressor clutch line, 2. Basically tells the ECU the blower is at top speed, so along with temp, etc, the ECU will control the thermofans. So you may not need it.
3. Will be the issue as it is a pulse width data signal, and tells the CC engine load and coolant temp.

I got to know this system pretty well as the CC conversion on the XH takes a little bit more time than an E series one.

Hope this helps.

Cool thanks for that info snap that was very helpfull indeed. your correct in saying the landau doesnt have any sort of ecu. its a 74 coupe XB equiv. Has the big factory a/c compressor on the 351, but still at odds as to wether im keeping that engine. Id even be happy if i could just get the standard controls out of a 90's model falc and get those running in her as my aircon controls are on the centre console and are in poor condition and i have other plans for the space there

There like a lever style knob, ill get some photos tmrw to throw up so u can all see what im talking about

Yeah no probs Dude.
In the XH I'm still putting together the dash unit, so connector access is easy, I can remove the data line pin from the CC connector and run the system and see what affect this has, as I suspect this to be the deciding connection in relation to your installation.

From what I have read and heard so far (For example Waggins Motec install, and TerroristGhias EMS install) the Climate Control didn't work due to the DOL not been there...

Cheers

My XR6 has an EMS 8860, and ive since installed climate on it and it works fine.

Or are we just talking about V8s not working here?

I was referring to climate controls on EF and ELs... your XR6 is an ED? that would be fine...

Cheers

So what's DOL ?? Is that the dataline I'm referring to ??

Dyvan: Theoretically, it looks like an EA - ED CC system might be the go as the only lines I think that you'll have issues with is the compressor clutch on/off, but the fix is as per above, and it has a coolant temp sensor input, which could be fixed by adding a resistor instead, telling the system the engine is at operating temp.

yeah, DOL is data output link, the one you were referring to.

And yes, easiest climate control would definately be the EA-ED one..

Cheers
