I need the replace some of my remote door locks. I have a NC and want to know whether I need to use fairlane/fairmont lock solenoids because of the open door sensers. Are the sensers a part of the lock soleniod? Or can I get away with using normal ED lock solenoids?
The open door light is also flashing for the drivers door. Does this mean that I also need to replace that lock soleniod as well?

you mean the lock actuators that make the door lock/unlock? i think you will find that they are all the same right through to EL

yeah i mean the acuators. I know i can use EF/EL ones, but do i need to use fairlane acuators? (my car has the open door senser thingy's on the dash)

The actuators are allt he same. id imagine the open door sensors would have nothing to do with your actuators. more like the interior light switch that is in the door frame

The door indicators should actually be part of the door lock, a small switch in the back of it (it is on the EA)

The door sensor switches have nothing to do with the 12v door lamp switches mounted in the pillars. The door sensors run on impedance and have differing values when the door lock is open or closed and run to the cluster. If the actual door lock was faulty and not locking properly then the door ajar circuit will indicate that.
The actuators are seperate.

The actuators are seperate. the drives door ajar flashes open/close all the time on my car, does this mean the door lock (not actuator) needs to be replaced? And to get it straight, I can use any ED/EF/EL low series actuator on the fairlane? just want to be 100% sure

If your actuators are just cycling endlessly then I suspect that one of them is faulty or a door lock is faulty or misaligned with the striker. Mostly I suspect one of your actuators is stuffed.
I am unsure of whether all actuators are the same though.

my actuators cycle when I either use the remote or lock the front passenger door by key. The funny thing is, the drivers door ajar flashes on the dash repeatedly but the drivers door actuator is one of the ones that I (think) works fine. But it might only be the drivers door ajar senser that is causing that particular problem
