G'day guys,

Need some help in identifying what this little black box is!?

It lives in the radio compartment ( see pics in my gallery if the one below
does not work!) and does not effect the car starting / running or any of the elec's from working :!: :!: :!: :?: :?: :?:

I disconnected and took it out, and the car started as normal, and all lights wipers etc... worked fine! I followed the wires, but lack of time (and paitence) saw me having to race in and ask you guys b4 hittin the hay for 2nite!

There's several pics in my gallery, showing as much detail as possible. Please take a look and advise to what it is - if you can!?

I'd love to move it somewhere else - it's s**t me where it is now! :(

As always - THANKS HEAPS! :D :D :D

Cheers - Matt.

I cant read what it says on the front. Does that give away any clues at all?

Nice looking falcon, but by the looks of it its just an adjuster. Does your car have electronic brakes for a trailer? It MIGHT be the adjuster for that, though i doubt it. Would you be able to write down what it says? I can read the writing on the right, but not the left. Says something along the lines of increase LSS adj, and decrease ctr adj, but im not familiar with the three letter acronyms :P

Yeah Matti - here you go:

Found this pretty quick - just googled Rostra Controls, the URL gives it away obviously. They do make a bit of gear.

http://www.rostra.com/cruise-control.htm

Your system may be electric or vacuum - there's downloadable install instructions for both, you should be able to figure out which one.

Hope the rest of the system is still there . . . .

Is it possible to follow the loom it was plugged into and see what else is connected to it.

If the black box is indestructable why not make the whole plane out of it.

Um, coz its not indestructable, nor is it black lol!
Whod want a bright yellow/red car with flashing beakons on it n have it make your car weigh 6x as much if the entire car was made of it, they are heavy as.

The black bo you found, no clue - could be anything, aftermarket alarm to stereo to trailer aid; anything lol, follow those wires!

Funny thing is, the cruise isn't actually working! I might have to play with that box!

snap0964 - Thanks for your research, and also for the link! I may even be able to download the user manual for it!?

u sure can, you have a model 16R rostra vacumn controlled cruise control kit

http://www.rostra.com/cc-250-1176.asp you should be able to follow this link to it's page otherwise it's easy to find on thier site.
Trouble shooting should be a piece of cake now. and i don't know who the dits was who left it hanging in the radio compartment, but im sure thats not how they recommend you install it...
