I need a fair bit to stop cables behind the dash rattling, there's only so much you can cable tie to other stuff I'm driving to qld this weekend so i want it silent... Any alternatives? I tried using some sponge and wrapped in tape but that just didn't work..... |

if you want to stop them rattling, increase their mass - ie just try to find some thick tape and wrap them up in it. being heavy they won't move around as much!!

I dont think its the that wiring thats rattling. If all the looms are correctly secured to their mounting points properly, there wont be no noise.
But it seems to me the left most mounting point on your dash is broken. Either its the bad angle, or its not there, or only half there. If any of these tabs are missing you will find the thing will squeak and rattle all the time. Specially if the forward crash pad is not secured properly. |

get yourself some sticky sticky foam and silastic and focus on the cluster surround and the radio surround, they make the worst rattles. i must have about 2m of sticky backed foam and 1/2 tube of silastic through my dash. but no rattles.

I fixed the problem, found some large pieces of very soft foam about 1cm thick and I cut strips out of it about an inch wide and spiralled it around the offending cables and taped either end.
All rattles gone! |
