Just wondering where people put aftermarket gauges in their EA-ED Falcon's?
I'm looking at getting a coolant temperature gauge, because IMO I think "Hot" and "Cold" are pretty useless readings. I don't particularly want it to look out of place, so yeah I'm a bit stumped as to where to mount it??? |

Ok ok, it's an EF, but.....
I put mine out of the way, as its not legal to have them in the line of sight (which would be ideal). You may have seen pics, they hang off the passenger side of the trans tunnel (oil pressure and boost/vac). Also have an air/fuel tucked under the ashtray. But will be relocating boost gauge to A pillar. Illegal - probably, but need it somewhere easy to see.

Yeah on the right of the trans tunnel is always a good look, you could go nuts and pull out the original dial and put the after market one where the factory one was, but that just smacks of work. If try to find a pod of sorts to mount it in the center stack with the radio etc.

Just ran out and took some pictures of my set up for you (I know it's an EF, but anyways...)...
I just got some pretty simple/basic look small gauges so that they wouldn't look out of place and stand out and scream "AFTERMARKET", I mean they don't look standard, but theyre not that noticeable either if you know what I mean (o, notice the new steeringwheel I put on Monday ). Here they are: ALso talk to 4.9 EF Futura as he has fitted a few different gauges, and mounted them down on the center console near the gear leaver, so that'd be pretty similar in the earlier E-Series cars too... **the pictures are still loading onto the FTP, but they'll show in about 10 minutes... |

Voxace - i cant host pics from work but post up your email addy and i'll shoot a couple of pics over.
I'm looking to relocate boost gauge to where TWR has his gauges sitting. Probably mount it to the actual pillar so it 'hangs' down in that little space there. re: your cuggested location. Just need to measure it up. Gauges come in two standard sizes (i forget dimensions, should be easy enough to find on autometer.com). twr - looks the goods mate.

Currently my gauges are only hot glued there! LOL! I did it before a final Year 12 exam, and needed to drive the car to the exam, so I figured it was the quickest way (and I can always pick the glue off and do it a better way), anyways, the other day when we finally had a hot day in Tassie, the hot glue melted and the gauges shifted a bit, so there no longer sitting straight and that. When I can be bothered I'll fix it up.
As far as I know there borderline with legalities, reason being because there small and there off to the side in the corner on top of the dash, and there at a low point of the curve, so there not really sitting much higher than the highest point of the dash above the factory fitted gauges, and they don't really block up any of the view. I mean you see so many people with giant monster tachos that block up more, so I doubt anyone would worry about these ones. It's an easy place to wires them too, as you can fit the wires under the thing at the front which covers the factory fitted tweeters in higher up models. By the ay, the pictures should both be working now... |

Also I just had a bit of an idea then where to put one, reckon it would fit??? If your just doing one gauge, I'd do it there, that way it won't look too random. You'd be able to get a small enough gauge that'll fit in there. |

Not to my taste, but can't beat it for viewability! |
