I'm hoping to fit a few extras to my EL, like trip computer, variable intermittent wipers, electric windows, cruise, possibly climate control. Its currently got a mid series BEM.

I've got a complete EFII fairmont donor car, and was wondering if it'd be easier changing the whole loom rather than cutting and joining wires for all the extra components.

Would the EFII Fairmont have a high or mid series BEM? What extra things does the high series do over the mid series, and are EFII/EL interchangable? I'm hoping that if I change the whole loom it'll make it a much easier job to do the power window conversion (if thats part of the main loom). I pulled a complete dash loom out of a EBII fairmont when fitting cruise to my S pack, but I remember there were some wires that ran down the side of the car and weren't detachable, just earths I think so I cut them.

would love to hear from anyone with any ideas or suggestions!

The EF and EL BEMs are NOT interchangable.

This page has a lot of information regarding the BEMs.

thanks the_Scotsman, that BEM page has heaps of information. It looks like there aren't that many extra features in the high series. Do you know if there are any additional features than the variable instrument panel dimming and electric aerial height control? What was your reason for changing from mid to high series BEM?

Even though the connectors are different on the EF/EL BEMs that still means that the whole dash loom could be changed and used? - But probably not worth the effort if its only going to give the two above features.

cheers
