Instead of going through the carpet and floor, male up a bracket that bolts to the two front seat bolts. Will look much cleaner, and will be out of the way. No new holes will have to be made either! Also stops runs in the carpet if you tried to drill it. If you do decide to go your way, punch holes in the carpet with a hollow punch first.

Make sure its not in the wrong spot then. Slide it forwards and see where it fouls, or make it easily removeable. If the mounting bracket is low enough it should clear anyway

Just make sure you check before you finalise everything! Dont want it hitting your legs or or hindering seat movement

Hey,
Its easier to make the bracket to mount on to the existing bolts for the seat. (no extra holes in the car) If wont bother the seat when you slide it back and forward... HOWEVER... its safter to mount it in the passenger side, incase the extinguisher comes lose, and jams under the pedals, or rolls around under your feet.

Excellent point there Kelli ... I'd be putting it on the passenger side too for that reason.
