Has anyone had a problem with their wipers.Like when you turn the ignition on the wiper does a single wipe etc., The other day it would not turn off, so I had to pull the fuse. Now it just a single wipe when starting.Anyone come across this before.

Try removing the wiper arm, and have a look inside...the copper contacts can get dirty, try giving them a clean, might fix it...I had a similar problem in the old EF.

I know it sounds very stupid, but check that the Washer Stalk isnt shorting, or that the washer motor is connected properly.....
I know that the above doesnt make any sense at all, but I had an ex Cab a couple of months ago that had the same problem.... Anyways, power was being fed to the Washer Pump connector, which it shouldnt have..... This fed power to the Body Electronics Module, in particular the Washer Pump Circuit..... This made the BEM think that the washer pump was running, and that it needed to run the wipers....... As I said, very very rare that this is the case, but the problem for me caused a couple of gray hairs until I worked out what the previous Habib had done to this cab....

Thanks for that, I will take the cover off this weekend and check the stalk and vacuum and dust it so to speak. That bit about the washer bears looking into as something must be making it wipe etc.,

Took it to Ford to look at another problem I was having and it came back as a internal BEM fault. As of yesterday it seems to have stopped doing it so time will tell. Thanks for the help and I will remember the items mentioned in case its starts up again.

Well it has started wiping on start up again, so decided to pull the steering cover apart and all that to clean up inside to see if that would fix it.
It now interment wipes all the time with the ignition on. All I had touched was the back of the switch etc., I then went further and pulled the stalk pulled out and the ignition on there is no wipe. So would I be correct in thinking that it is the switch??? |
