Hey there all.

I have a XF ute (carby engine) with the basic GL cluster
and I was wondering if it's easy to replace it with a spac cluster that
has the tacho and the fuel/oil digital readouts..

Do I need to also get sender units for each digital readout
and would the plug for the back of the cluster be different to the GL one?
Thanks in advance..

You only need to replace the oil switch to an Oil Sender.

both xf dashes (s-pack and the digital fairmont) will fit straight in and work in the gl with only the addition of the oil pressure sender as krytox said.
i cant remember if u need to put the wire onto the negative side of the coil to convert the gl models to tacho tough, if it doesnt work there should be a wire taped back to the loom near the coil

I'm pretty sure you need to run the wire, as mentioned above, for tacho.

Managed to swap the clusters over and apart from the oil pressure gauge not working yet until I swap the senders over I see the temp gauge just sits on "C" and doesn't move..

I can't remember whether the old cluster temp gauge worked or not because I hardly drove since only getting the ute not so long ago..Is there a sensor somewhere in the engine bay I can look for to see if it is connected or not? Thanks in advance..I really need to get a workshop manual.. :D

iirc it's on the front of the head somewhere near the thermostat housing, brass with plug and 1 wire coming off it?
i think if u unplug it with the ign on and all the reds up on the dash, the temp gauge will go up to high or down to nothing

Another update to my cluster conversion..

The tachometer works when it feels like it (I assume that the wire to the coil may need cleaning)

The temp gauge shows 1-2 bars and no more ( would have thought it would sit at halfway)

The dimmer control switch does nothing at all and at night can be hard to read the speedo.
The backlight works but brightness cannot be adjusted up or down..

Any ideas would be appreciated..
Thanks.
