Hi all,

New to the site and I must say I'm impressed with all the knowledge there is. I went through all the tech docos and interior forum achives and I have come up with a list of interior mods I would like to do on my XHII V8S ute. Any information, and pictures is greatly appreaciated.

1. Power aeriel
2. NL Ghia lights in bottom corner of doors
3. High level dome light with map lights conversion
4. Trip computer (using the diagnostic mode, the EEC already outputs the L/100km, fuel remaining and inst L/100km etc)
5. Power windows

If you can help me with any advice or know how with the above that would be great.

Regards

Chris

XH trip computer has been covered by a member from Tasmania - it is a very unique conversion I must say.

Really? Well at least I know it can be done! I have no doubts that it would be a challenge though, but its a nice piece of gadgetry to have. Does anyone know of this member who has completed this conversion?

power aerial is available from any spare parts store. just tell them what you want.

power windows can be source from any xd/xe/xf fairmont/ghia as the XH still used the same doors. you will need to source the power window buttoms from car of your choice though

Yeah, done 1, 3, 4 & 5. 3 is pretty much a swap and connect.
See my signature link for docos - power window doco being written but is work in progress.

Well - its is a unique conversion, because none of us here @ Fordmods would have guessed (in a million years) to install the t/c where you did in your ute - did I forget to mention your dab job on the cup holders for the XH ute?

I attached my own to the metal facia (on the removable lower panel) somewhere near the drivers right hand side, knee.
I "pop riveted" some old plate to the metal facia and screwed the other end of the plate to the back of the trip computer. I covered the lot in "interior carpet". It looks alright to me, I couldn’t think of any other places to mount it - without completing serious modifications.

snap0964 - That is FREAKEN AWSOME !!!!!!!!

I have NEVER seen anything like what you have done with your ute !
Is there anything else that your thinking of trying or have done, apart from the docos.....

I must say the Trip Computer mod you did looks even better that on the EF/EL Falcs.... It looks sooooo factory !

I had a look at that area as well - only thing was that visibility wasn't the best, the trip computer might cop a few knocks, and the fact you had to look too far down while driving to see it turned me off putting it where you have.

Thanks Matti, completed so far:
Common to both cars:
- Full LED interior/instrument lighting, with illuminated fuel flap/central locking buttons (EL wagon).
- Brake Lt switch fail warning caption + backup brake lt power circuit. Brake Lt's still operate if switch has failed.

EL Wagon:
- Locking cup holders - button press to release and lower.
- Lock up torque converter manual overide + indicator light.

XH Ute:
- EL Bosch 5.3 ABS installed.

Otherwise my sig block covers it - Coming up is Climate control to both cars - Modifying the dash unit to fit XH is obviously the challenge here.

Yeah thanks, I'd initially thought the triangular lines wouldn't suit - but doesn't look bad if I do say so myself. :P
I would like Fordmods to have and host the docos I've done - XH power window install is in progress as well - I've emailed Brad a few times, but he doesn't reply.
Just a quick thanks to yourself and others on Fordmods who've inspired me to do what I've done - had it not been for this forum, my cars would be still stock standard.

Climate control in a XH would be tough! Does the XH use a EF/EL heater box?
