How do you stop the Coolant LED from an XR8 sensor from flashing on an AU2 i6? The manual says the Coolant Sensor LED is only for the v8 which makes sense.
Is there a pin I can cut to stop it from flashing? Or maybe actually adding the coolant sensor? Is it just temperature or coolant level? Thanks |

Why not just remove the bulb/led then no more flash.

Because I thought I'd check if it was a simple procedure to add the sensor or not. And I wanted to check exactly what the sensor did. Was it a simple on/off sensor, or is it a variable sensor and the cluster only goes off when levels gets below an unacceptable level?

If its the one im thinking of, just a level indicator in the overflow bottle. Its just a little float in the bottle, when it gets down to a certain level the light comes on.

Coolant sensor will be in the coolant resevoir its a simple float device that feeds back a certain ohm reading when closed i.e. full, and nothing when open obviously and the light starts blinking.
I am however not sure if it interfaces with a BEM or not so fixing the problem may not be simple.

the wires should already be in the engine bay as far as i know, so would be just a matter of getting a bottle with a hole in it, chucking a sensor in it and seeing what happened. Wouldn't be that cheap though, probably about $190 new from ford(bottle and sensor), suppose you could just get one from a wrecker with the float already in it.

Most bottle should have the spot for the sensor already, just be blanked is all.
