I stated in a previous life time (Fordmods MKI) that I was planning a Blue Tripmeter led mod. My first try was a single 5mm led which was nowhere near Jose's excellent job. Here is a couple of pic's of yesterdays 2nd attempt (inbetween the Bourbons and room painting). I still am not 100% happy with this version to but it is just with one led and as it is a wedge led, there is no modification done to the trip meter.

Which LED did I use?? The bloody biggest of course :D

Hmmm I didn't feel like using reflectors and glue and other assorted bits and messing around too much so I now have 6 5mm LEDs and one wedge LED in there and it doesn't light up too bad, but I just can't get enough light to the right hand side of the screen dammit.
Might really have to consider doing a 'Jose' job...

Just change the orange filter to light blue with the original globe and it'll diffuse the light evenly like the original.

Yep bin thar, done that. Still havn't adjusted the size of the images on my sight yet or updated the speaker mod yet. The rear wing took priority :D Will get ther but.

As for the buttons, did you have some acrylic light movers in your tripmeter before modding?

I prefer the hacking of a product to get the final effect, but for some bugger of a reason, this time I am trying to achieve a simple PNP (Plug N Play) answer. My 'wedge' for this attempt consists of one only 10mm blue led filed flat back about 3/4's on the convec (experimenting with different end modifications, just luv that Dremel), 2 resisters and a piece of circuit board from the rear wing mod/rebuild (oops, had not meantioned this one before :) The 12degree light pattern of a led is the major drawback in a single led application.

Still playing with some ideas and if any improvements are realised, will update.

Last night I finished fitting the prefab LED's to the dash.

I'll post pic's up tonight.

I lost the detail of the clock, but the rest looks good.

Looks like single LED even if it is a bigun just doesn't do it.

We are collecting a lot of ideas here. Soon we will come up with a system that is reasonably easy to install, cheapish and has the looks. Currently we have JOSE with a great front panel and The Others with the readout and the switchs. If it wasn't for the work chrissy party tomorrow at the Brisbane Casino, I would have it worked out this weekend.

Yeh mine had the acrylic light movers, id melted them off before i took the first picture though, hacking the trip comp apart seems to be the only way to get a decent even lighting effect.

okay guys, what would be the resistor used and what would be led used. Would a 560ohm resistor and like a 6000ccd(i think tha is the units) be okay.

Cheers
