Sorry, I meant between fill ups, not reduced distance.
I'm only going to run LPG. Petrol prices are ridiculous.
I'll go either a scuba or custom twin tanks so i can get 500+ kms between fills

The tank options u have suggested are expensive bud

For all the stuff around of taking petrol system out to purely run LPG is definatly not worth it as there isent any benefits from it. A Duel setup has its benefits and dont forget if u go injection it will be more economical, so more kms out of same tank compared to say a impco setup or GRA.

I'm not paying for petrol at the price it is when I can run on LPG

Anyone else got thoughts???

Yeah mate,

My AU ran the old mixer setup and my 5.4 V8 now runs sequential gas injection.

Thoughts on mixer setup - Good setup but prone to backfires. This system was good on the AU but was a bit difficult to start and didnt have quite as much power as the injected one. But the benifit is it's cheap and easy to fix.

Thoughts on Sequential injection - Got this on the BA, it runs pretty smooth (when it runs properly) but i had two faulty converters which shot jets of gas about 6 foot high out the bonnet (Fast and the Furious styles). And half the time its f**k, it never seems to run right and it surges when i gear down and come to a stop. Misses when it gets to 3 grand and above, and now recently, because of a f**k Gas MAP sensor, it will cut out when im giving it s**t and not go back on gas until i restart the car.

My opionion, stick with the Gas Ring setup, its crude but it works and is simple/cheap to fix. This sequential setup has caused me nothing but issues. By the way my sequential system is a Romano and was installed by Gas Power Australia.

Other people might of had nothing but success with the sequential system but so far im not impressed.

Cheers,

Yep, that doesn't sound at all like most reports on vapour I have heard. Prob best get it looked at by another LPG place, Blownba from the FF is the man I reckon.

I'm liking the looks of the 425 impco. I've had one before on a XC I owned and it ran superb.
If I was to go with it, what intake manifold could I use? It wouldn't need to be an EFI cause I'll pitch that petrol tank as far as I can, at current prices anyways! Maybe a weiand stealth with AFR 165 alloys??
While we are on 425's how much hp can they support? or is it more the convertor/ lockoff that is the restriction??
I only ask because there might be a 351w block in the wings....

Hey Guys,

Yeah this install was dodgey at best, the whole thing is just f**k man aye. It has never run good since the first day ive had it, missfires like a b**ch, stalls at traffic lights surges and makes my car feel like a piece of s**t, ive been put off LPG aye i dont think i will ever get a car on dual fuel again aye. It saves me a fortune but its not worth the bloody hassle.

Who in perth actually knows what they are doing and will actually call me back when i ask for a quote for something?

Cheers,

I run a GRA 510 & B2 converter on my EB 5.0. I replaced the factory TB with the GRA carb. Had to fabricate an adapter plate out of 1/2" aluminium and switched 2 of the TPS wires around as the throttle rotated the opposite way. Tuned it myself with a narrow band O2 gauge. I paid $500 for the tank & line install, I had previously mounted everything else. I get around 430k's out of 60 litres.

Thanks for the input fellas, great ideas.

Now, I've decided to build up a dedicated 5.0 over the next few months, along with a auto to replace the ones in the wagon.
I reckon I'll start with a stock EL or AU block, get the bottom end fully rebuilt and balanced and then work on the top end.
Maybe a set of AFR 165's and a weiand xcellerator with a 425 impco on top.

Thoughts and ideas on this please???

Haha... I'd love a stroker but its only for my daily and I can't justify spending that much $$$ on it.
I reckon just a check over of the block to make sure its all ok, zero deck it, new pistons and a good gas cam.
If I can get a good deal on a set of alloys, so be it but in the end I might just put a set of GT40P's on it instead.
Can anyone recommend me a engine machinist in Melbournes inner west? I'm in Altona north.

Don't be put off by a dodgy install, I've had gas on 3 ZC Fairlanes with 302C, 351C and 351 W all good, actually the 351W loved it as there was no V-Power or BP Ultimate back then only super which was real crook as they were getting rid of it! Now I've got a NF 5lt on gas (s**t little gas ring) but it still goes alright for a daily driver stuck on the M5 everyday and it is cheap! - petrol? pfft! overrated!

Guy on E bay with new 425's cheap. It does work but a good vapor kit will blow it's doors off. I run a 425 on my road going 5 lit PV on a 600 holley T/plate but my EF 5 lit with KME injection goes much better. One of the Best Vapor kit's is BRC from IMPCO. Big difference in economy as well 5.5 KPL against 4 KPL for the PV. [PV is very HEAVY in it's defense 1800KG]. Regards TPVM.
