Just scored an AU E-gas engine. I pick it up tomorrow morning.

The mechanic i bought it from was trying to feed me a line of s**t that it had larger valves but only stock rods???

I didn't bother arguing that all AU heads had the larger valves. However i was under the impression that the AU E-gas motors had LPG specific rods.

Wasn't this the pre-cursor to the Typhoon rod? And don't bother telling me that its bushed i already know that.

Any other internal differences???

I think that is B series, A series had same rods AFAIK.

Ok so i collected this engine on Saturday. Couple of things i noticed:

BBM injector bungs blanked off
dizzy hole blanked off
so it just runs a coil pack in waste spark sensed by the 36-1 wheel???

Tha cam angle sensor is done on the timing case in AU not off the oil pump drive.

All AU's run coilpack ... none of them had dizzy.

Correct but they still have a cam angle sensor.

didn't bring my camera into work otherwise i'd post the pics.

What i'm getting at is regarding the engine management. Obviously its a ignition-only deal. What i'm trying to figure out is whether or not the AU E-gas runs waste spark? I think it has to be the case given there is a coil pack but i'm not an expert on auto-elecs or being able to identify coil packs.

Maybe we are at cross purposes on this.. Is the cam angle sensor you speak of the 36-1 wheel on the back of the balancer? Because i would have called that a crank angle sensor.

I can't see anything that resembles a cam-angle sensor :?: However next to the magnetic pick-up is another sensor of some sort. About the size of a 10 cent coin. Is that it???

This is really all about finding a cheap solution to my issue with my BA engine. I can just run an e-gas ecu and coil pack along with my GRA carb and stick it in whatever the hell car i like. (No VCT).

The one on the back of the harmonic balancer is the Crank angle sensor, there should be another in the timing case for the cam angle sensor. You may be correct in the Egas not having one.

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Yes that the one. BTW, all EF and AU run wasted spark, you only effectively have three coils, B series have coil per plug, the rest have a dissy.
