Hi all

I have an au wagon that has been missing the cold air induction mouth that comes off the air box. So I went a brought the larger mouth 220 v8 one and put it on.
Now when running on LPG the car stalls when u take your foot off the accelerator, just to check I took the mouth off again and the car runs fine.

Would any one have any idea whats going on and why ??

Thanks doug

You'd need to tweek the fuel mixture as more air needs more fuel to mix. Putting a widemouth snorkel is sucking loads more air than without it therefore its currently tuned to the lesser air. What gas system you got?

If you have your radio code you can rest the ecu by disconnecting the battery for a good hour. Then follow correct procedure ........start car, run in park for 2mins
........still in park another 2 mins but with aircon on
........in drive ( foot on brake and handbrake on) for 2 mins
.......in drive ( brakes) another 2 mins but air con on
Then take car for a good 15min drive at various throttle positions for the ecu to.relearn your driving style and you should be goodif this has no effect, you will need to adjust your idle/mixture.screw depending on what system you have ( being vapour or liquid)
Should either have a mix screw with a spring on it on the round mixer that's hooked up to the air intake or a brass knob on the hose going to your air intake.

Post up a pic of your system :)

I know its a vapour system as there is no injection at the moment. I will give this a crack and see what it will do and if it makes any change. were do I enter the code for the ecu? does it have to be done from the radio as I have replaced mine with a dvd unit

No you don't need the code for the ecu just your stereo lol but if you've replaced it you won't need it

Hi Doug,
your wagon sounds like to me that its having a 'ram air' situation (Meaning- Air is still being fed into the engine due to speed but sending a false draw signal to the convertor causing flooding then stalling). does the LPG system have a balance line that goes to the air box or the snorkel?

You just need to tune it as your getting mass cold air flow now as opposed to hot engine air just stragling in. More air = more fuel
