G'day there, just wondered if you could possibly help me out with some advice on a AUII Falcon ute dedicated factory gas model. Its done 270 Country kays and have just purchased it. Engine and drivetrain all seem very strong still though, blows no oil and no leaks. Now first thing in morning she starts and runs fine, but if driven only a few kays and then left to sit for a little bit, she just refuses to start.

The NRMA came out and fiddled around with it, eventually releasing some gas plugs thinking it was flooded, but there was no smell of gas. Anyway that seemed to do the trick. Since then however it still will fail quite regularly, we release the plugs and she is good to go.

Now I'm no mechanic, but I'm thinkin if there is some kinda primer solenoid that opens to act like a choke to make starting easier ,is it possible that after only a few kays this solenoid gets stuck open allowing flooding to occur? Is this choke solenoid triggered by some kinda eng temp sensor? If so could it well be the sensor that causing the issue. If there is such a solenoid, could I just disconnect it to test whether it could be the problem? Any assistance on the theory and practice to remedy would be most appreciated Thanks Glenn

Suspect it may be the plungers gunked up with wax when warm ... and not opening up to allow gas through.

You may need to get the solenoid plungers looked at and cleaned.

And while you are at it ... get the idle jet cleaned out as well.
