it's a great deal, my EL wagon cost me $200 after the rebate kicked in! :)

About 6 months ago i got a quote to convert a falcon EF/EL wagon to straight gas, with two tanks fitted in the same positions as per the factory E-gas system. I was quoted $4400. I asked if the quote was for an injected or carby system and he said carby.

Just some points from an installer

* The rebate is only available for privately registered vehicles

* Yes the installers invoice must state paid in full

* If YOU are subimitting your paperwork for the rebate you need 4 forms

1/ The rego papers of your vehicle in your name
2/ The installers declaration
3/ The installers invoice
4/ Your declaration

Check ALL details are CORRECT !! ie dates vin number etc etc

Submit the forms over the counter at Medicare OR Centrelink

Some staff at above may not be familiar with the deal & try making things difficult for you . So ask for a suppervisor or providing your confident all forms are accurate & filled out correctly ask that the forms be submitted as is . Some of my customers have had problems then gone from Centrelink across to Medicare ( or vice versa) and had the forms submitted withoout argument .
The the forms go to Adelaide ( as I understand ) where they are processed and BINGO the $2000 is back in youir bank account within 5 to 6 working days.

I ask my customers at the free first service how long it took for the money to come in & they all say five working days , but my mate said it took six days .

There folks hope that helps !!!

Oh yes the rebate is under threat with our new Rudd Government , so best send an email to Peter Garrett if you want a $2000 rebate next month or year or who reallly knows what they will say/do on Budget night

Kind Regards

Hi there

Do you know of any good Installers around Sydney area?

What are some of the things I should be looking out for?

Is there a [List of Questions] somewhere in this forum that i've missed that can assist people that are thinking of installing LPG, or a place where recommendations are made of reputable servicers?

Thanks all

J

I am going to sunshine on the 30th of this month to get my wagon done, he seems like a good bloke he said he has been doing them for 25yrs and all I do is drop it off in the morning and pick it up the same day. Comes with a 3yrs warranty too. It is only costing me $2400 with the scuba tanks in the floor apparently it cost more to put them in so it should be cheaper for a standard tank. But for $400 bucks (after rebate) I am not complaining. :D He uses the omvl type gas convertor. I will post how it all goes if anyone is interested.

I have had LPG fitted to a few old ZC fairlanes over the years by MED at Villawood (Sydney), but recently went to get the NF 5.0 done and they no longer fit only supply! They put me on to Jimac Autos in Chipping Norton who did my NF for $2500 ( got the rebate in under a week) very happy with his work neat installation should give him a go! :D

hey there fellas, i drive an EF xr6 s/wagon and want to covert to lpg now im facin few issues firstly i was told that for about $2500 i can get a conversion but its pretty s**t ( a taxi job) but for about $3800-$4500 i can get either vaporised direct injection or a liquid injection. so my question is what is better? i dont want to loose power like in the (taxi job) and also does any 1 here knows about a good reputable company that do these sort of conversions in the greater sydney area....
cheers JR

i think you might find that the direct injection jobs are for later models to help stricter pollution laws, thats what i was told before getting "taxi" set up - bit harsh - i was told they are for 2000 and something onwards, but hey i don't claim to know too much about 6 paks - my setup is great buggar all power difference, most of the bad stuff you hear about LPG is from knobs who have never had it they just poo poo the whole thing.
i have asked around about the rebate and after the initial panic about withdrawal ther is apparently no plans to finish up rebate scheme.
