Hi Guys.
I put a BBM on my EL engined EB over the weekend, and thought I would throw up some pics of the new layout. My IMPCO gear consists of an L type convertor and a 225 mixer. I have rewired the LPG ECU and relays. Previously I was running the Log manifold as the LPG was working fine in this configuration. Old Layout New Layout I am designing a 'Petrol Bypass' for the intake to allow for full airflow while petrol is selected. Cheers BenJ

Have you noticed any difference in this new setup at all???
I guess having the mixer and converter closser and having a shorter hoses would make it more responsive???

Well, after a few days of driving around on LPG in the new configuration, I am pretty happy.
It now goes as well on LPG as it used to on Petrol with the Log manifold. Only drawback at this stage is that it can take a few more cranks to start it, as the LPG has further to go before filling the combustion chambers. Cheers BenJ

Am keeping an eye out for another. Oh, and I got 380kays out of this tank of LPG, with a mix of heavy footed city driving and gentle cruising. Not bad to pick up more poke, and keep the same economy. Will fit the Dual Fuel ECU this week too. BenJ

A Blend door motor should be suitable for your bypass control.
Good thing is it should be easy to wire up - a DPDT relay(or strap 2 x blue relays together), and use lockoff power to control the relay coils. Now, put your thinking cap on . . . .

Here is a pic of the IMPCO LPG Computer in it's original location, before I rewired the complete LPG setup. {USERNAME} wrote: 380kms is pretty good economy, were u getting those figures before this conversion??? I have the Scuba Tank in the wheel well. I can put in approx 62L of LPG. With the EL Ghia ECU and the log manifold I was getting around the 370-380 mark of mostly city driving. With the EL Dual Fuel ECU I was getting around the 400 mark of mostly city driving. On a trip to Canberra I got 510k out of it. It would appear from the one tank of LPG I have used with this new setup, with the EL Ghia ECU that I am getting the same sort of range, but have more power. Time will tell, how the economy goes, after I put the Dual Fuel ECU back in. But who knows what other sort of engine mods I have planned. LOL Cheers BenJ

Looks impressive. I am trying to get my lpg system working again on my DC LTD. It has an IMPCO 225 setup, but I am after wiring information. Any chance of getting my hands on the wiring for your setup? A previous owner mucked around with the lpg/petrol switch and I have a bunch of wires that I am trying to sort out. Even on the tank the wiring has been played with. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ben.
Is that really an L type converter? In the last pic right in the middle. It looks as though it will let air pass without much restriction. I thought that I had the L converter, very restrictive obviously. Looking for a way to bypass this without spending bigger cash on a gra setup since I only want more air flow for a new cam. After the cam I am done so don't see the point in forking out the $$$ for gra. |

sorry i think i mean mixer.. part which attatches to TB (is too small in diameter to flow sufficient air up top in the revs)

Hi
Yes, you are referring to the mixer. From your description, you have the L Shaped mixer which is a 200cfm mixer. My mixer is a 225cfm mixer, but is still quite restrictive. The air has to navigate an 'S' shape bend around a plate type thing inside the mixer, which obviously has an impact on the flow of air in the intake. While more obvious at high RPM, when on petrol, the wagon is less responsive down low if the air is flowing through the mixer, compared to using std petrol intake piping. I am working on my bypass system, but am not in a rush to finish it yet, as I have a number of other projects on the go. Cheers BenJ
