I filled up in hoppers crossing last friday only to find my car sounding like it was running on 2 cylinders , i called shell and was confermed it was there LPG they have sent me a claim form for the damage. I have the direct injection system in my car so i hope there is not alot of damage.
i will keep you posted on whats happening.

My mate works at Courtney & Patterson and has warned me not to use Shell LPG, he services the Fleet E-Gas cars 90% of the ones with problems have a shell fleet card.

What sort of issues have they reported with Shell LPG? I've used Shell 99% of the time for the last 2 years and had no problems, though its not a DI system. I know the mixture of propane and butane varies which affects the tune, but rarely by enough to see a noticable diference.

Yes shell LPG sucks.
BP's does too, clogs up your system with oil. |

Theres Parafin in all LPG Gas - used to lubricate your sylinder head etc.
But there is a different problem with Shell LPG at the moment. In the same way that sometimes there is fuel contamination. I like BP Gas at the moment. Nigel |

In some parts of Aus, caltex *used* to be the best. In Canberra Certainly.
Ive found that the further north you go the better BP gets (relatively) |

there was a problem 3 weeks ago and I got caught out. My converter is blocked and running like a pig. see the info on the shell web site.
Advice to Shell LPG customers in Victoria printable version "Shell would like to advise motorists that there was recently a quality issue with a batch of LPG supplied to some retail outlets in Victoria from its LPG depot at Lara, near Geelong. This quality issue related to higher-than-normal residue levels in the LPG. Shell regrets that some motorists who purchased the affected LPG between June 17 and June 28 may have experienced operating problems with their vehicles including difficulties in cold starting and rough running. Motorists who experience these operating problems with their vehicle should immediately take their vehicle to a licensed repairer, and should also contact Shell Customer Services on 131618. Shell is committed to supplying high quality fuels and will consider all legitimate claims for repair costs. As soon as this problem was identified, Shell stopped supplying LPG from Lara while extensive testing was conducted. Retail sites identified as containing LPG with a high level of residue were closed while actions to fix the problem were undertaken. As such, motorists can be confident of the quality of Shell LPG currently selling at service stations. Normal precautions are required for handling LPG and Shell does not believe there is any additional safety risk to motorists from the affected fuel. An internal investigation into the cause of the higher-than-normal residue levels for this affected batch of LPG is currently underway "

this could explain a bit! I have been filling up at shell in Geelong as I see the local taxis using it, so I thought couldn't be to bad!
I have recently having trouble with cold starts, but the converter is over 5yrs old and has a hard life
