It is a Pulse Width Modulator. What it does is allow the current to get to your generator in pulses. This stops the cell from overheating and also stops amperage runaway. The duration of the pulse can be adjusted so the current can be on for longer or vise versa.
Have a talk with Madmurf. He may be able to help you out as far as making one of these things. He has all parts and sells the generator core complete. It would still be cheaper than the $475 for the one you are looking at. And with Madmurf being on this forum I am sure his gear is good quality. I have bought stuff through him and it has worked well. |

Yeah $475 is a bit much considering that I built mine for $55 (minus the PWM & O2 sensor) they arent hard at all to build mate, all you have to do is checkout youtube and there are videos up there that show you how to build them and they show you all the info you need to know about it all.
I'd atleast have a look at them first and then make up your mind as to what you want to do - (oh by the way blokes arent sorta useless at building things man, it's because you are not familiar with it thats all) Study the videos over and over and you will pickup the knowledge you lack atm, all ya need then is the gonads to try it No really mate they arent hard at all cheers AL

Guys,
Has anyone tried anything with a Dry Cell? I am about to start to build one and see if they are better than the conventional wet Cell. any comments or ideas on the dry cell would be appreciated. |

I am just about to start playing around with Dry Cells. Does anyone have any experience with these? Any ideas would be great.

I think they are the way to go efficiencywise, - have u checked out the new smack's booster that he has on utube? He reckons it produces 1 lpm for every 10 amps and without the heat buildup that u get with cells in common bath. (do a utube search for BB gen IV) Garth

Garth,
My new Dry Cell is nearly complete. It is 21 plates +nnnn-nnnn+nnnn-nnnn+ At the moment my gaskets are only 1mm thick so I am going to try it out and maybe have to double up on the gaskets to make a 2mm gap. I should have it complete by the weekend and fitted into the car early next week. I'm looking forward to testing and seeing the results. My plate size is 130mm x 130mm |

Yes you are guessing correctly, it stands for mililitres per minute per watt here is a link to a handy calculator:- http://www.watervan.co.uk/tools.php
