Last time i inquired about getting a tank restamped, which is actually a test & possibly replace anything that requires it process, the cost was going to be $180 and some bits were to be replaced during the process. Inquire at a few lpg joints, if they can't do it they should know who will do it.

Cheers

i was expecting 250 for the tank stamp, so 180 id be way happy to pay. we thought we found the 'issue' with the lpg system that the old owner said there was, but turns out it might not be.

Not sure about a tank stamper mate, but I've seen a few tank slappers in my day...

certified pressure vessel tester, usually change all tank gauges and internally inspect the tank for corrosion, usually done at a lpg station, they book him and get the right tank gauges for the swap,he should give you a paper certificate for the tank and restamp the tags on the tank.and it looks like the cost varies, from state to state.

I was ringing around over here for the same thing... was quoted $260 if I pulled the tank out myself and dropped it off.

I was hoping that was an oddity, but it's the best I've found so far.

Bugger that. For that price, i'd consider going to a wreckers & finding a tank with 5+ years on it that is exactly the same tank as you have, and swapping them over. I have recently swapped the APA tank in my Eb Xr8, wasn't very hard, but a 2 person job if the tank has a fair bit of fuel in it, they are heavy buggers!

Cheers

the problem i have is, how many KF/KH lasers do you see on LPG? ,ine is the first i have ever seen, so finding an in date tank at a wrecker is like finding a needle in a hay stack

the brackets are all welded to the tank so i cant even modify a falcon one (same size)

its a huge mofo of a tank

Those brackets around the tank look a lot like the brackets i have for the LPG tank to fit into my Torana. As Ashcook suggested you could buy an in date tank without brackets - ie, if it's the same size tank as a falcon, see if you can find a XF tank in date (that's what my torry's tank was originally in) and then just buy some new brackets to fit the tank.

Cheers

yeah, but then the tank number doesn't match the compliance plate any more and any cop that checks will do you for it.

I didn't think they had tank numbers on the compliance plate? I better go read them again lol. I know the VIN number, date, installers details are on the compliance plate.

Anyway, that's not a problem man, car isn't currently registered, and when i get the RWC done soon they will record the new tank number & if required stamp it on the plate. The place i goto for rwc's also does lpg installs.

Cheers

Glad you bought that point up Ashcook!

I've just had a look at my EB Xr8 & my Eb Ghia. Xr8 converted in 96 & Ghia converted in 2004.

Eb s1 Xr8 (impco 425 LPG)- compliance plate only has Vin number & fitter number & Date fit
Eb s2 Ghia I6 (Easyjet LPG Injection)- compliance plat has Vin number, fitter number, Date fit, Tank Serial number and maybe other info i didn't bother reading about.

This is for 2 car's converted in VIC. So it looks like the details on the plates have changed over time. I'm sweet for the Xr8, it's plate doesn't have the serial number. I just have to advise the rwc place to check the tank's re-test / re-stamp date, which is 07/08, and was retested by vic fitter 595 iirc, and all is good.

In my Ghia tho, i would need the new tanks serial stamped on the compliance plate or at least recorded with Vic roads.

Cheers

My car is already registered but I'm taking it back over the pits because I've converted it to a manual and put a different motor in so want it to be all legal and accounted for before I put the supercharger in.

have to get the tank redone as it expired in Feb.....
