Hey all
I have a BRC converter and its too close to my headers and has caused some damage, so I have a heat sheild going in but i'll need to move the converter a bit (again) Just wondering if putting the thing horizontal is an option, I cant see why it wouldnt function the same, but I dont know if converters are designed for a particular orientation.

So I take it the converter is too big to move upwards and closer to the strut tower ???

I moved it higher and close to the strut tower as possible for the orig header install, but the need for a heat sheild and a bit of clearance on either side of the sheild has me unsure if I can get enough clearence.. I could perhaps get another cm without rotating it.
Will guess i'll wait and see when it arrives.

I remember hearing that they can be mounted any way whatsoever and will function fine, but vertical mounting with the vapor line at the lowest point prevents all the crap in your LPG from accumulating in the converter too much.
My EB had a horizontal mount above the fuel rail, it ran fine.

I also heard that if the converter is mounted so that the primer button is facing forwards/backwards, this can cause mixture change under heavy braking due to the inertia of the button itself. I wouldn't have thought it had enough weight myself, but the theory is true if it does.

I mounted my BRC converter horizontally after being told that GRA recommend it. I had to move it to clear the AU surge tank that I fitted to replace the EF split one. I also had to replace the hose from the radiator as the Ef one was too short. I went for the AU surge tank after looking under lots of bonnets at the car dealers to see what improvements were made by FORD to try and stop head gaskets blowing..... Head with coolant air bubbles/ air lock. The AU tank mounts on top of the strut tower about 2 inches higher than the ED/EF/EL so I figured it couldnt hurt and may help.

Sorry the kids were harrassing me....
What I forgot to say was mine does seem to be working better since I moved it and adjusted it.!!!!!!! |
