I haven't run petrol in the XG for several years. The injectors don't work and I probably have a tank full of sludge. I also run my V8's on straight gas and have driven them from Brisbane to Melbourne and around without any problems finding gas - now that's out of the way.

I want to remove the petrol injection from the XG (EA - ED equivalent) and run straight gas. Simple gas not gas injection.

The system is AEB and I'm using the centre start position to start the engine on gas

Is it possible to pull the fuel system off the car and not have the auto start playing up (BTR 4 speed)?

How can I get a squirt of gas into the manifold when I turn the ignition key to start, so I don't have to change the dual fuel switch everytime

What do I use to plug up the holes where the injectors sit in the manifold?

Is it possible to fit a simpler gas control system than the AEB and eliminate the piggyback computer, etc?

Hi I ran my sons XG with an impco 225 Mixer and EL B/Band manifold. The drama you face is that as these cars have an oxy sensor you are supposed to run a closed loop gas system IE: gas ECU with fuel control or stepper motor depending on what type of gas system you use. I did appear to have a working fuel control valve on his, it's a bit easier if the car is already complied and you know your gas fitter very well and you do not need a RWC. By the way fit a steel shim AU head gasket and they fly.

Straight LPG can be done. Not the easiest, but possible.

One of my Xr8's is straight LPG. Has the injection gear removed from the intake system, an old school carby type manifold fit & fueled by the impco 425 mixer. Factory ecu still sits in the car, running the idle control stepper & thinking it controls the dizzy & spark, with the LPG using an injector emulator to keep the petrol ecu happy. A Mallory 6AL is setup to control ignition.

This was a legal straight LPG conversion, car is listed as straight LPG with vic roads.
