Hi, My Falcon's in the shop for some welding around the sills but the welder doesn't want to touch it so near where the LPG pipes run! Is there a tap at the tank or another trick I can give him
Ta

Cheers Ash, I'm out on the road all week so won't get chance to look for it. If he still won't weld near the pipes I should be able to move them myself next week!
I'm also going to fill inside the sill with wax oil to try and slow the rust down

Yer I have asked my guy to check, weld and treat as much as he can find! I've done so much work getting the car mechanically sound I really need the body to hold up for a few more years.
I just got a phone call to say he found what looks like a tap where the gas in/out pipes conects to the tank, he has turned it all the way clockwise but say's the engine wont die! it wont rev but it will tickover normally! The tap he turned was a black plastic cap about 5/8" with a nurl to twist with your fingers, by the location I would say its got to be the right one

The Falcon is still sat in my fitters yard, he wont weld it till the pipes are moved but the tap doesn't seem to stop the gas it just slows it down and he thinks there's a leak!
So I'm now looking at ways of getting 80 litres of liquid gas out of my tank and possibly replacing the valve.... any sugestions? theres no MOT on the car so I cant just drive around till it runs out and I don't fancy blowing myself up doing something dodgy

turn the tap of and unplug the wires going the solenoid at the tap, then run the car untill is stops.
If it keeps idling when you just turn the tap that it isn't sealing properly and needs to be replaced. You really should be looking for some one that knows what they are doing, this guy obviously has no idea what he's doing. |

Cheers guys, yer he really isn't sure about the lpg system but he is a bloody good fitter. There are a couple of lpg conversion places in town but both want to see the car before they'll quote, I'll have a look at the manual, I normally work from the heynes but that doesn't cover lpg models. I'll try unplugging the wires at the tank too, I never thought of that thanks

Pulled the wires and dropped the whole tank off the falcon this week, it's all welded up like a patchwork quilt now and undersealed just waiting on some new front brake pads and I'll be back on the road but I've been told the sills will need replacing in the next couple of years!
I also managed to buy and blow up a Peugeot turbo diesel in the time its taken me to sort the Falcon so now I have to decide do I spend time sorting that out or cut my losses and scrap it? I'm buying a car with full warranty next

Yer most cars rot here eventually, I think the falcon just went quicker as it wasn't prepared for it from new. I have to decide If I'm gona stick with it and look at all new sills in the next couple of years or maybe strip it for parts/prodject
As for the pug the only good thing I can say about that is its 90hp engine did 50mpg or it would have If the tank didn't leak evey time I went round a left hand bend!
