after a bit of help if i can get it:-
i have a AU2 XR8 running dual fuel,it has an impco 425 mixer but lately when i stop then start the car agin it back fires, i replaced the plugs cleaned out the mixer which was full of crap!!! and it doesnt do it as much now, does anyone know what causes this?
also it seems to be quite restrictive when you put your foot down to give it a little- just doesnt feel like a V8 should when given some, could this just be the setup, would i benefit going onto a gas research throttlebody and getting rid of the mixer all together.
any help would be much appreciated-any tips on anything would be also.
cheers :?

Do you have a photo of your setup XR6XH? I'm wanting to explore impco on my V8 and I'm interested how it all fits on a 5.0.

I had the same problem on my AU2 XR8. I have the same set up as you and needed to fit an electronic box made by PEEL that squirts an adjustable amount of petrol as the engine starts on gas. This helps prevent a lean gas mixture on start up which can cause it to backfire. As far as performance goes you should have it dyno tuned, mine improved out of sight after tuning, now makes 145kw at the wheels on gas.
