Hi all,
Need advise and also to make sure i'm doing it right. I own a Ea falcon with a 3.9l CPI Engine. With the lpg, when does the Flash Lube need to drip? every 1 drip in 10 seconds? or? |

you use flash lube???? do yourself a favour... go to a taxi rank, walk up to the the fist guy you see driving a Ford taxi and ask him... and I guarantee he will look at you with the same dumbfounded look that I have right now......
I have never known anyone driving a Ford from 1980 til now ever using the stuff on A Ford 6 cylinder on LPG... Holdens on the other hand its a different story. Ask around, check if you like, ask LPG installers etc and you will see what I mean.

You can double check if you like but have not seen any flashlube being used on Fords since the 1980 XD when they updated to the alloy heads. From my understanding ford done the right thing and put decent valves & seats in their heads (would have cost them an extra $2 per engine) but I have never seen a cab use flashlube since the pre crossflow days.
I used to work on XD - XF cabs and do their servicing for my boss at the time. My current car is an AU Xcab with 810,000 kays (original motor) and doesnt have it on it, so not much has changed

im a ford mechanic and it has different valves and valve seats etc.

xpression I ask you then a question, How many Falcons do you see on Gas that have any drip feed systems put on them due to LPG. I have never seen any.
Egas engines I believe also have a different cam, run higher compression too, cos they are setup from factory to run on LPG.

The LPG flash lube debate has been raging for years - I still stand by that you don't need it! I like many other people with falcooons running LPG have yet to have the head f**k up. So you can argue all you want about AU egas having different head...
And as AU99 says taxis which clearly do the most driving on LPG don't use it either. |

To the guy with the leaded XF, i would query that with an lpg installer, i have heard from a few people that the unleaded engines responded well to gas, whereas the leaded engines did not.

1 Drip every Minute at idle.
And there is no harm in having the flash lube system installed. If its not needed and its installed its not going to do any harm. The flash lube will put oil on the valves and stop them slapping the valve seat. |

the last time I installed one I'm sure on the instructions it read 6 to 8 drops per min for 6 & 8 cylinders, but its being a while that I've put on one, only use them on 4WD installs.

I've got mine setup 1 drop every 5 sec (351c on LPG) which equates to around 12 per minute - as per instructions.
It does help on older motors that didnt have hardened seats, especially 2v open chamber heads, ive seen them sink seats about 5mm by running on gas. |

I use 1 drop every 4 to 6 seconds. AND IT WORKS! Used on a Ford Fairlane 6 cyl LPG/Petrol Limousine with over 600,000 km. The first thing I do when converting to LPG is attach flash lube! Anybody who says that it is not necessary obviously has not used it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
