so im toying with the idea or buying a BF Wagon in the near future.
but i dont like the idea of a BF with a mixer gas system.
if i was to get a petrol car, id get Liquid injection gas system, but what about converting an Egas to Liquid Injection?
is it possible to do this?
my thoughts are that the egas has a better engine and large gas tanks.
and with gas tanks and lines already in the car, can they be used with Li?

any info would be great.

egas to liquid = no

If you were going to do it, you would need to change the engine harness, pcm, intake manifold.
But i believe that all liquid systems start on petrol until the engine warms up before switching to gas.

I was the first to convert a ba egas from mixer to svi injection and it runs on straight gas.


Another reason from going egas mixer ring to LI is that the liquid injection has different lpg tanks as they have a lpg pump inside them unlike the mixer ring setup wich have an ordinary tank without any internal pumps just the pressure from the lpg itself....so you would have to replace the tanks also,so the only thing you would be saving is the engine.

But if you want liquid you would be better of buying a cheap typhoon/xr6turbo for the stonger internals and converting it.

Don't forget that in order to comply with ADRs, any engine fitted with an LPI system *MUST* be able to start and run on petrol. This is because it is illegal for LPG or CNG to circulate through an engine bay when the engine is not running, and for an LPI system to purge, LPG must circulate through the engine bay. Since E-gas engines have no petrol components, you're at a distinct disadvantage if you want to convert to LPI. Additionally, LPI tanks require a pump installed in the outlet and on top of that, you need a petrol ECU as the LPI control unit will require a petrol injection signal in order to function.

I did once make inquires about doing this. The name of the place escapes me but the guy told me it would be a waste of time. The only advantage you have is the LPG motor. Everything else has to be changed including the tanks and the ECU. You also need a petrol wiring harness.
He didn't however say anything about needing a petrol system to start it on, just basically told me it wasn't worth it.

So what's your problem with the egas system anyway?

The LPG system is allowed to to prime for up to 3 second, If that is enough time for an LI system to purge then there is no problem with it.
If it takes longer then that, then yes you would need to start the engine on petrol.

There is no specific rule in AS1425 or QLD legislation that says you must start an LI engine on petrol.
Other states may have different rules to QLD. But none of them can be 'less' AS1425.
