starts fine but when get going starts to cough and die, have to put my foot flat to the floor till it clears. Once cleared then goes perfect, does this every time after turning car off. What can i do to fix this please

How old is your oxygen sensor?

My car does this and after just recently replacing my distributor and eyeballing the timing, it seems better. I'll be setting the timing properly tonight, so I'll see if it disappears completely.

Checking your timing might be worthwhile.
