Hi Guys I have a 97 EL Fairmont with tickford LPG and the guage inside the car always reads wrong when reading lpg but is fine on petrol. The LPG gauge on the tank reads correctly all the time and i changed the instrument cluster but it still reads the same as the original one. Any ideas would be appreciated as it is very annoying having to open the boot to check LPG. anybody else had this problem. Cheers

The gauge in the dash reads off a 6-172 Ohm scale (those numbers are close but probably not exact...lets just say it is above zero and less than 180). Most in tank gauges are 0-90 Ohm. On my EF a full tank reads 3/4 full. I have also added a 10 Ohm resistor to the circuit so I still get the reserve reading. You can either put up with it or try and find a 6-172 Ohm tank gauge and swap it over. I tried but no one would sell me the gauge only. They would only sell the complete assembaly with the in tank floats, etc.
cheers Scott

You could try AusGas in outer East of Melbourne I changed my brother's EL to straight LPG and they sold me the gauge for about $50 on it's own. I simply put it in and re-routed the fuel tank wiring and now have a gauge that works fairly accurately.
Hope that helps

You could buy the signal converter(?) from Peel instruments.
http://www.peelinstruments.com.au/products.html Changes the signal so the STD gauge can read it. Aslo has a pot so you can finetune it.
