Hello hopefully you guys can help,
We've been having troubles with this for ages. We put a new/used engine with lower Km into my dads car which has a factory fitted Ford gas system... Everything has been fitted correctly and runs perfect on Petrol and appears to run perfect on Gas until the cars temperature reaches the letter N on the "Normal" gauge it still runs fine while you are driving until you pull up at the lights or stop and the car tries to idle in which it will stall and will not idle on gas until it has cooled down again. Would anyone have any ideas on this one we've replaced solenoids, limited the water flow into the gas converter, changed the idle with the screw but nothing seems to work so here I am asking for help Thanks in advance John |

Sounds like you may have a low water level. Does the converter get ice/frost on it when you lift the bonnet?
Although you have water in the rad, sounds like when the thermostst opens, you lose flow to the converter. You could try bleeding the air from the system. Never had an AU, anyone know where the air bleed is? Its usually the highest point in the coolant circuit. Thermostat housing bolts/bleed screw or similar. You shouldn't limit the flow to the converter, it needs to be warm, to convert liquid to gas. Anyone else?? |

Yeah could be an air lock. As said, try bleeding the cooling system, what I tend to do to bleed the cooling systems on these cars is park the car facing up hill, remove the rad cap and keep the water level up to it whilst letting it idle for about 1/2 an hour.

The Gas converter doesn't appear to be freezing up. We've had the bonnet up looking at things and it will be idling fine and then suddenly it will slow its revs and conk out no signs of frost on any of the pipes on the outside at least.
Does anyone know exactly what part of the mechanics monitors and changes the revs during idle at certain temperatures? is it purely the ECU picking up something from a sensor? It is a Vialle Gas converter if that helps, we were also thinking could it be a fault with the ECU? It just seems so strange that the gas was working perfectly with the old engine and now it works perfectly fine until it reaches running temperature and then you stop the car and try to idle it will suddenly conk out but at the same time switching to petrol the car will continue to work fine. any thoughts? it's racking our brain trying to work out what's wrong. |

Have you had a lp gas tune on it? Mixtures are probably out of whack.
