Hi All LPG enthusiasts,

I was searching for info on the web last night and i came across this exciting development.
Ford have developed a Liquified Gas injection system and have released it without us noticing. The engines get more power than the petrol engine and the fuel consumption is excellent.

If the petrol version is tuned on 98 it will make same power but if u can flash tune the LPG with it's high comp 12.0 and octane of LPG, it will smash the petrol version out of the water.

Herrod have a big job ahead for us LPG boys

I was wondering if I should get a diesel as a work vehicle. Hoping that LPGI is soon to be released for the new territory I did some rough figures.
My rough calculation of fuel cost driving 60000klm over 12 months was :
diesel @ 9L/100klm @ $1.45/L = $7800
petrol @ 12.5L/100klm @ $1.35/L = $10400
LPG @ 13.5L/100klm @ $0.65/L = $5265

This shows LPG to be a major winner and I will be looking forward to the new LPGI engine coming to territory ASAP.

mmmm light weight 12:1 pistons.....................
Buy engine from wrecked LPI falcon, fit big f**k off cams and 6 throttle bodies. jam engine in a cortina.........

On second thoughts, there will be no back firing issues any more, so it'll probably be fitted with light duty pistons and rods.

heard the internals were very similar (if not the same) as the xr6t motor. Deffinately needed the bigger rods as during testing it spat 3 of them in to the sump. (B series barra)

Interested to see what the new motor will be like

About time, but they could have had lpg vapor injection years ago, the technology has been around ages! Hell, I've had LPG vapor injection on my Eb Ghia I6 since 2004!

Yes I know the article is talking liquid injection of lpg, but lpg injection has been around ages.

Cheers

I agree, injection is a million times better! Ive got vapour injection on my Au and it s**t all over traditional ones. Small converter, better performance, better economy, better control over mixtures, no affect when running on petrol.

Injection FTW!

The B series Barra gas was when it was first being developed in early 2000's so I'm told

Yes, but as the new gas system won't have backfiring issues, there will be no need to fit the bigger rods.

Update.

still not released yet according to this site. That may be why ford have no info on their official website yet.

I'm already hinting to our local ford dealer that if they want me to continue doing there LPG warranty work i'm going to need some technical info and possibly some factory training.

Retrofit the Territory

I really think the best solution for gas tanks under the Terry is two skinny 50L tanks one each side. I will be interested to see what Ford come up with? I want to put the spare wheel back where it belongs.
