Interesting the talk about power losses on gas - there was a guy can't remember the company name but he was doing gas injection on XF and newer sixes by using a `stealth' injectors that read the std injector signal and calculated how much lpg to inject - he was talking about 10 - 20 % increase in power over petrol! But, he said there was no interest and gave up - this was a few years ago....Why o why doesn'y somebody run with this idea? Anyone got a factory BA or AU gas setup? surely they don't use old school gas setups still do they? Anyone know? (Iknow there are some setups in European conversions that use injection....)

R people with gas almost at the stage of running on petrol if they have ok-ish milage on gas? B/c the price keeps rising and I know it isn't as efficient at petrol

i filled my car up on gas today i had done 300kms and it cost $21.00. ($7/100km). that means that at around $1.20, which is about what it cost in perth atm, i would need to be using around 6l/100km (i.e.$7.20/100km). even a hyundai gitz doesnt do that. so i would say that gas, if tuned properly, is not far behind fuel for efficiency IMO and quite a bit cheaper ($1.20 v 40c). i loves it :D :D

Wow...Never used to be above 43c here (Hastings/Frankston) and since the start of month its been at 55c at a minimum. No higher that 62c though..

But I read gas prices are picked at the start if trhe month and stay around the same the whole time so hopefully it will go down next month.

Its hardly worth it in my opinion if the prices keep going up. I use 22L per 100kms on LPG and 15L per 100 on ULP. With LPG at 60.9 at the moment and fuel at 115.9 LPG is cheaper but when they put the 12.5cpl tax on and if fuel stays at the current price i wouldnt even bother converting unless you have a really efficient LPG system and drive a lot. But hopefully the price of LPG will drop next month back to the mid to high 40s in which case gas will save heaps on petrol unless you drive a economical 4cyl.

LPG prices are set in Singapore once a month:

The international benchmark used to determine the cost of Australian LPG is the Saudi Aramco Contract Price (“Saudi” CP or just “CP”) expressed in US dollars per metric tonne.

Even at 70c /l it is still cheaper than $1.20 odd for petrol. At current oil prices, petrol will soon be $140/l if our Aussie peso happens to fall

Hardly 60c + 12.5c Tax + 10% 1.25c will be close to 14c which will effectivly bring it to 75cpl for LPG + factor in extra running costs such as converter clean out and additional LPG maintanace, and fuel in Melb being as low as 112.9 at current i wouldnt bother at all. Unless you have an efficient system that loses 10% or so economy. I Use 22L X @.75cpl =$16.50 in LPG per 100kms VS Fuel 15L X @112.9= $16.93 ULP. For me its not viable really any higher than 59cpl unless fuel increases in price again. LPG should be 45cpl at highest and no matter what system you run you will save heaps. Bloody government take the gst off fuel and exise at 37.7 and we wouldnt pay anymore than 70cpl for unleaded in which case i would only run LPG if it were 38c or less.

Just for the record, I have been working in Saudi Arabia for the last 10 years. When I first arrived here petrol was 60 halalas a litre. 10 years later its still 60 halalas, which, at the current exchange rate is 18 cents (95RON) 91 RON is 13 cents and diesel is 7.6 cents per litre. The Government here dictates the fuel prices because Saudi Aramco is state owned, would be nice if this happened in Oz, but in reality, no chance
