Hi all,

Im looking at doing another LPG conversion but using GRA aka gas research E series lpg kit and wanted to know if any of you guys have used there gear before or even the LPG kit itself. I was told by the lpg installer that this is a great kit and will get about 40kms and more power than my previous 2 kit which were Airod and Impco.

I know the GRA stuff is positive feed and i dont know the difference between positive and negative feed lpg kits.

Any information that help would be great

thanks in advance

Had a GRA kit now for 4 years on an EL, only gripe is a crappy idle that no-one seems to be able to cure. Power is good. economy is good, had mine tuned by JMM and he sorted out a timing problem. I have set the timing to way advance, so the engine actually pings on petrol when under load, but I don't use petrol much anyway. All in all, quite happy. Installed by Swift in Dandenong, they did a good job of installation, but a rotten job of tuning, hence going to JMM

My fuel Econ went down when i went to GRA.

i was getting ~450km to a tank of LPG, mostly city driving, went down to about 400km.
now i get ~300km on GRA... but with 225rwkw :P

Did you end up fixing the rough idle problem or was that cured by the timing advancement?

I live in the South part of Sydney I'm interested in fitting the GR lpg system from scratch as I'm currently running petrol only.

the idle is easy to fix...

on mine i just unscrewed the idle mix adjuster a fair way and played with it a bit.
you need to get it right otherwise you will get a miss when you stab the throttle and it changes from idle to cruise mixture.

it really needs to be jetted properly.

i have a unit with the CTI injection which will richen up the mixtures when needed using the oxy sensor as a reference.
but you need to tune the idle and cruise lean for that.
i think with that setup tuned correctly it would be nice.
but at the moment the lower revs are too rich so its not as good as it could be, but still does a fkn mean skid lol
i have a wade 1673-14 cam and standard exhaust manifold and the gas research has ALOT more pickup when compared to the impco system which ran out of gas at 4500rpm.

gas research is fkn great, but someone needs to spend the time tuning the idle and cruise jets and using the correct metering rod.
otherwise it will chew through the gas and run far too ritch.

here is a tuning guide :)

Mickyyy, Old thread i know but howd you go with the GRA install mate?
Did you find a decent installer and tuner? If so where did you take it? And what did it set you back in the end?

Cheers

I didntend up using a GRA kit as the only competent installer wanted an extra $600-800 over a impco setup so I gave it a miss, just incase it didn't do what he said with the added cost and stuck with the tried and broken impco.

As ur in VIC there are a few ppl that know how to tune GRA systems well.
