Bit of a strange one happened to me this moring when i was filling up. btw the gas tank is an 80l tank
I ran the gas dry, to an extent. pulled in to fill up at BP. now i usually put around 55l into the tank when its reasonably empty and i have previously run the gas completely bone dry just to see how much i could put into it and the most i ever fit was about 65. which i thought was reasonable as i thought the actual capacity was ~80% the tank size. When filling up it just kept on going an got to 75l and i stopped (not the automated shut off) just cause it seemed way to much and i didnt want to do any damage. what has most likely happened here? *can actually fit 75+ litres into my tank and im an idiot *pump meter is incorrect and i was ripped off *possible problem with gas tank/ valve cheers guys Ben

Depending on the air temp and the pump preasure depends how much you can get in your tank.
I've gotten between 65 to near on 80lts in mine. |

when i worked at a bp i had a couple of people put in pretty close to the same amount of litres that their tanks holds, the pump gets tested for accuracy

try getting your tank id # and google it, it will most likely tell you the capacity of your tank

68 useable?
Mine is the same, although i have had times where it hasnt been empty yet and i have put 72 litres into it. Depends on the service stations compression on their tanks, if its higher then you will get slightly more, the air tempreture, altitude maybe? lol Wouldnt worry about it, so many millions of dollars have been spent on making lpg tanks safe, they are infact much safer then petrol now. If a truck rams into the back of your car, it might push the lpg tank from the boot into the front passenger seat, but your the luckiest f**k around if it explodes, because it never happens 
In short, dw about it, your safe

If it happens again I would say your auto stop valve is stuffed.

yeah AFL's can jam up or cease to function for no aparent reason.
Yes LPG is safe, but if the tank is overfilling its not really safe, the pressure relief valves are not very reliable, AU dual tanks factory gas had problems with people keeping the system feeding from only one tank, and the other slowly over filled a little more each time until it burst, hence the reason they changed the regs to better accomodate dual tank setups. Pressure relief valves dont always work, neither do excess flow valves. As long as you are feeding off the tank, dont stress, I fill mine very near 100% water capacity, never had a problem. |

Check the Manual fuel guage in the boot on the tank as u fill it up. stop filling before you hit the red zone. simple.

there were a batch of faulty AFL valves fitted to manchester tanks I have seen warning notices many times stuck on gas pumps at servos. have it tested they will replace it free.
