XE 302 4spd with an Impco 300a mixer. Runs like crap, suck gas like there is no tomorrow, and runs rich enough to make your eyes water at idle!
When towing a car trailer, typically chews 30L/100km.... Best I've done (EVER) was 17L/100km Soon to be Sprintgas!

I've found towing with LPG real thirsty too.. I currently have a EF Wagon with Dual Fuel. Previously have had: EF2 Fairmont with Tickford Gas. & x2 XF GHIA's with straight Gas. I've only owned 1 car which was gas.

A mate and I fitted a Century gas valve, impco converter, impco lock off and tank out of a XE ex-taxi I used to own into a Mk1 Esky panel van a mate owned. The mate cut the floor behind the seats where the compartment is to recess the tank into the floor, modified and made new brackets, it worked a charm. I then when on to f**k around modifying the linkages to get the best idle and power compromise using the Century gas valve, Impco converter and vacuum lock off. I wouldn't recommend what I did as I did not have a gas analyser etc and did it by seat of the pants and experience. It hammered by the end. I do not remember what Webber carby we used, it could have been a 28/32 (cant remember models either LOL, but we had a few of these size) and nor can I remember the converter size, it wasn't a big sucker, this was done back in 95 so you can understand why I have forgotten most of what was used. Back to the original subject, it should be converting the wagon soon, just deciding on what I want to do in the long run to what system I will choose. Cars on LPG I have owned, XF Ghia wagon, fitted a 351C on straight gas 1992, I fitted system, Garrison mixer (looks like a 14" sports air cleaner, with attachments) and converter, it was a rubbish system. (I am licenced LPG/CNG) XE ex taxi, when I bought this car the fuel tank smelt just like plastic, the first time I filled it with petrol, fuel pumped everywhere out of the fuel pump This thing was a rocket, went better on gas than petrol even towing a car trailer with a car on it for around 1300kms, we overtook everything, that car was a freak until it threw a leg out of bed towing a car trailer again, the next engine was a stocker and it was a dog, below average on petrol and worse on gas just swapping intake etc over. F100 Ambulance, (correct year unknown, ex army with parts and compliance dates all over the place), dual fuel nothing exciting, impco system can not remember models etc, used a Thermoquad, not the best carby to fit LPG, top secondary butter fly causes problems with LPG performance, so you wire it open, but this then causes petrol performance problems, also the bakelite body is known to crack when swapping from gas to petrol, when the cold petrol hits the hot bakelite, this in turn can cause a fire.

EF the viale converter s**t its self (common) so it was replaced with a mga converter. Gotta love the manual gas adjustment. Runs as lean or rich as I want it to.

i used the bottom of a falcon weber on the escort, then made an adapter that fits to an impco 200. had heaps of problems with it starting cold. found out it had a leaking inlet manifold gasket. fixed that, and it goes like a train now !
