i was changing the balance pipe to the new alumium upgrade and when replacing the gold fitting that screws into the underneath of the converter i over tightened it and sheared the bolt thats comes out from the converter!

is the thread that comes out removable and am i able to replace it?

I'm not sure exactly what bolt you have sheared off,but I am interested as to what the "new aluminium upgrade" is :?

The only bolt under the convertor is the drain bolt and it is small one???

If it is the balance pipe adapter you are referring to then it should be easily removed with an easyout.

Fixed! I filed the sheared piece flat and taped a 1/8th hole in the converter and then put a brass fitting inthere.

Great that it's fixed. What is the "Aluminium upgrade" you mentioned??

its exactly like the old pipe but made out of flexible alumium which is stronger and is less prone to punchuring. But the problem is i wanted to stop my car going to stall when i brake but it hasnt made any difference so i was wondering if anyone has any ideas? h

I am having similar problems, mainly "hunting" on idle, and almost stalling when braking. I did find a break in the balance pipe which pretty well fixed it for a bit, but I am experiencing the problem again.

I have talked with a friend in the industry, and he seems to think it may be in the converter. He suggests that the diaphram may be oiled up, and not flexing and returning properly.

He also suggested to look at the vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator, as this can sometimes wear thro', causing a similar problem. Also to check for inlet manifold leaks. This can be done with a water spray over the inlet manifold, and you can hear the water sucked in.

First, I am going to see if the problem exists on petrol. I think that if it does, the problem is something else.
