Hi guys
This is the first time I have ever had a car with LPG on it. So sorry if this is a stupid question. As the tread says I would like to do some mods on my engine. EG. Cam. head work exhaust system that kind of stuff. What I would like to know will the work I do on it. Will the power increase be the same weather I am running on petrol or LPG I hope you all are having a good weekend Luc |

it might not be the same.. but in some cases that is a good thing.
LPG can handle more advanced timing and a higher compression. extractors and bigger exhaust will benefit both... Cam will benefit both to varying degrees. bigger air intake will help both.. but not much.. mixer is a flow restriction in a LPG vehicle. Do the cam and exhaust mods.. then get the LPG turned reputably. my car goes very well on LPG.. I think when I'm finished it will go a lot better. |

Oh good to hear Frankieh Thanks a lot for your advice. I think that the Cam and exhaust mods would be all I need for now. I have plan's for the body to make it stand out a bit. With luck it will look really good any way mate thanks alot for your advice Luc |

if you are using the old mixer style setup it is a massive restriction. If you have the money go gas injection, you will make the the same if not more power than petrol.

If you have the money to waste on cams, exhaust etc.
Spend it on upgrading to a vapor injection system. The power increase will be there plus it will be more efficient and you won't have the down sides that come with camshaft changes. |

The sequential LPG injection systems will give you a leap over the old mixer systems. Yes they are more expensive but are a lot more precise and easier on your fuel bills over the long run. A recent trip to Rocky from Tooowoomba saw me not have to refuel until I came back through Dalby - over 1200km switching between ULP and LPG. Mixer system would have seen me get to Miles before having to top up the LPG alone.

Old school converter/mixer.
take the blue silicon pipe out and have a look inside and you'll understand why injection is better. Having said that, my car goes pretty well on LPG and I have the same sort of system. but I have higher compression and an advanced spark. (and one day I will upgrade to liquid gas injection when I have 5k to spare. ) |

The alloy ring is the mixer.. it introduces a low pressure area in the intake to help it mix lpg with air.
Sadly it creates this low pressure area by restricting the air flow. That is why injection is more effective. |

really curious about that low pressure area you just mentioned... i have a similar setup but i got the factory EF/EL Tickford converter setup in mine. and i was really looking for a way to get more power out of gas. but i gave up on it. and did some changes to the fuel system. does that ring still restrict air for when running on petrol? meaning if i remove it i will gain more power for petrol?.. is it possible to just run the gas feed line into the intake without a mixer ring lol...

Yes.. that ring will lessen the output of your engine running on Petrol as well.. and you will get an improvement in your top end output by removing the ring.
I have one of these... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BLOS-Propane ... 4abcc417a0 and I am waiting on another.. They work by varying the size of the restriction so that it only produces enough of a low pressure area to get the job done and doesn't unduly restrict the air flow. |

Hey Guys
I have injected vapor LPG on my car. Only $575 off ebay for the kit and you can fit it yourself, provided you already have LPG in your car. The kit just replaces everything in the engine bay. So far the same kit has run my 1673 cammed EL SOHC and now is on my BARRA DOHC. Cheers BenJ

This one here:
{DESCRIPTION} I'd been eying this off for ages.. if it went to 250kw I'd have one now.. but it won't work with my charger setup. |
