Hi ,
I was wondering if anyone can assist. I have a 5L 1991 LTD on dual fuel, when on petrol the car run fine, when I switch to LPG it basically has no power. If idling when i touch the accelerator there is a hesitation before the RPM's come up, when I put the car into gear ( under load ) it runs rough and has no power to accelerate, it feels like it's not getting enough gas. This problem only started the other day I was driving on LPG and it was running great stopped the car and when I restarted it this problem ocuured. Could it be electrical is there much difference between petrol and gas with regard to ignition, it does feel a bit like it's only running on 7 cylinders but when I switch to petrol it's fine, ??????? any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Have a look through this forum- its fantastic for us gas users!!!
But what sort of Gas system are you using? What the economy like? Could be leaning out- could be gummed up with wax(common issue) Do you have a power screw on your convertor? Is it allowing enough vapour into the mixer? Timing issue? Bad gas? Screwed convertor? The list is endless- Im afraid its trial and error mate

Did you fix the issue?
LPG is very sensative, It's check for vacc/gas leaks first. |

Read my post I made where I fixed the problem myself, maybe you might have the same problem and can have the same fix.

As LTDHO suggested, check for Vaccuum Leaks first.
After I had a backfire recently, mine was running similarly...it was idling like a pig and surging under acceleration. When I poped the bonnet, I could hear a hissing sound. Turned out to be a Vaccuum line which connects to the rear of the upper intake manifold (mine has an explorer, so might not be the same as yours???) had popped off. Plugged it back on and the improvement was instant.
