I was just reading the specs on this website for the AU II falcons of 2001 and was wondering why does the LPG falcons have more torque than the standard petrol falcons?

heres the link

LPG-specific engines can run a higher compression ratio and therefore can have a higher peak torque output than a petrol engine.

You rarely lose torque when converting an engine to LPG and in some cases you will actually GAIN torque and widen your torque band.

A little extra timing, that LPG can handle, can also help to increase the torque.
I dont remember, did the E-gas motors actually get a higher compression?

Factory Duel fuel LPG has duel maps on the ECU on the AU (S1)

When I had my AU S1 Duel fuel it have better low down grunt on LPG (could spin the wheels easier) this was due to the timing on the LPG map in the ECU due to the higher octane.

Only factory LPG got this bonus of the duel maps.....
There was no compression increase on the AU S1 but there have might have been on the dedicated LPG on S2/3's, I know on the Egas BA they have 10.7:1 compression.....

AUII Dedicated LPG up to BA E-GAS received higher compression pistons. The BF petrol model was upgraded with the same pistons and therefore E-GAS lost its advantage.

With mixer-style LPG, you don't lose any torque under normal conditions (i.e. under 4000rpm) but after that, you get a noticeable drop in torque and a flattening of the power curve because of the restriction in the intake system.

AUII had the same compression in EGAS as the petrol models ... higher compression only came in the B-series onwards engines.

Only the BA E-GAS had higher compression than the petrol-only variants.
