Does everyone elses sprintgas mixer mount like mine? Just seems odd that it would have the venturi-like part on the T/B side and the gas vanes/outlets flowing against the airflow? Seems backwards to me. Anyone got pics of the same ring?

A$$holes! So which ring would be the right one? what do others have on 5.0s? I can turn it around but I'll have to change the intake tube.

Apart from it being installed incorrectly, do you think halving the area of your throttle body with a restrictor is not going to rob you of power?

Should have got yourself a 425 impco mixer and a L Model convertor.
I loose 11kw on the dyno between petrol and lpg.

Guess I probly should've phrased that better. I'm well aware about the loss of power with a simple ring but I'm sure it's down on what it could, & should, be.

The mentioned impco 425 setup would cost more to have installed, but yields better power & probably better economy as well. Even a Gas Research setup could be considered, and that might be a straight bolt on, rather than needing an adapter like the impco 425.

Cheers

I don't know why ppl say the GRA is hard to tune, it has a moving metering rod, that you can get in either 1, two or three steps, and you machine it's size from larger to smaller to allow more flow as it lifts up & down the bore it runs in. It doesn't have a float level to set like similar designed petrol carb's......

Impco 425s & GRAs are getting cheaper on the s/h market.

Cheers

I'll probly get injection at some point. Want to keep duel fuel. Just waiting for the prices to drop a bit.

I'd look at the tune first, most gas joints tune the LPG ratios to match the Petrol ratios that the ECU runs to minimize the changes to the short term and long term fuel trims. This is usually miles too rich, gives poor fuel economy, low power and hard starting. Also your ignition timing will be wrong for LPG and you lose a fair bit of your mid range torque.

My EB Xr8 is duel fuel, impco 425! Excuse the mess, the engine bay needed (and got) a good clean when i took this.

I doubt the prices of gas injection will drop much, until the govt grants for LPG are gone, then they probably won't drop by the same amount as the grant anyway!

Apparently this is the correct way to install a sprintgas mixer! However backwards it looks! If its on the other way the pcv is after the gas outlets so it can suck gas into the engine and blow the rocker covers off.

If you want to put a 425 on you will have to change your converter. At the moment you have a complex converter & a simple mixer to run a 425 you need a simple converter as a 425 is a complex mixer. Your converter will not run a 425. Vapour injection is the best answer. I do not think you will get a new 425 for $300.00 may be a S/H new are about $500.00. Are you sure that the ring was on wrong coz they only mount one way. The nozzles have to be after the Venturi so the low pressure created by the venturi will suck the gas in. Regards TPVM.

Sorry, did not see your last post as to it being around the right way. My EF 5lit has Vapor injection no loss of power at all. TPVM.

Got any pics of the injection on the 5lt? I'm sure many, including myself would be interested to see it....

Cheers
