new information regarding the dedicated gas falcon engine

this engine with the green rocker cover has a range of 700kilometers on the highway on gas,
apparently if converted back to fuel (regular unleaded you can get a massive 1200 to 1500 kilometers to a tank of 68 litres) depending how many kilometers the motor has on it.

this has been discovered just recently so i hope the guys at ford start making a duel fuel car soon or their losing big money?

any one want more info on the conversion please leave your messages

hate to disappoint u but that is just retarded....

sure it might be a little better because of the higher compression but not 100% better

maybe as a dual fuel vehicle with gas and petrol teh 1200kms is def possible!

I have heard of getting another larger LPG tank fitted to utes and linking it through another hydrostatic valve to give you even more range.

Who would use petrol anyway ... it's a dirty fuel.

why the hell is a dual fuel setup better/more efficient than a dedicated engine for either fuel? dual fuel by its very nature HAS TO be a compromise.

the dedicated gas engine was designed to give the best economy from the old converter sysem.
since all the testing has already been done converting back to running on a 91 octane fuel you can achieve fuel consumption figures of less than a 4cylinder motor

some one tell me im wrong then prove it to me cause i have been working on this project of mine for as how old is the falcon gas DLPG system.

it is quite amazing how many kilometers i can do on the highway with out stopping running on 91 oct fuel regular unleaded, i am using the dual VCT motor from the BA falcon and there is also another software upgrade apparently which stopps the unsoundly idle i used to have previously which can be done simply by taking your vehicle to a authorised ford service centre

its no joke or lie its really something out of the ordinary the DLPG engine simply is the next generation of motoring, pity that ford are going to stop producing this motor in 2010

Under normal real-life driving conditions the Falcon will be lucky to undercut 11L/100km for petrol (615km per 68L) or 15L/100km on LPG (450km per 68L). Obviously consumption will decrease if you mainly cruise on highways, but you will *NEVER* get anywhere near 4L/100km.

i will be testing this setup in the coming months so keep posted
the motor i will be using is the duel vct twin over head cam the BA gas DLPG engine, converted back to run on just petrol, my first test will be a start and freeway run until empty then second start and run for 100km refil tank to check my calculations.....
hoping for results in the range of 4 to 6 litres to 100 km
stay tuned...

I'm willing to bet money on this. You won't get anywhere near those figures for fuel consumption on the highway, let alone under suburban driving conditions. Ford states that the average fuel consumption for the petrol Barra I6 is in the region of 10.5L/100km. This would mean that consumption in the city would probably be around 12L/100km and consumption on the highway would probably be around 9L/100km.

I WOULD LIKE INFO PLEASE ON CONVERTING MY 07 BF RTV EGAS TO UNLEADED...ITS NOT DUAL FUEL...AS LPG IS ON THE WAY OUT...I DO COUNTRY RUNS...IM ASSUMING YOURS IS DEDICATED LPG....IM WONDERING IF I CAN HAVE THE FUEL PORTS MACHINED OUT TO CARRY THE FUEL RAIL...AND INFO ON THE COMPUTER ALSO...I WILL REMOVE THE SCUBA GAS TANKS AND FIT A POLY BA/BF FUEL TANK...MANY THANKS...IM IN METRO PERTH
