As part of my dash conversion on my ED V8 wagon, I had to put in a ECU from a DL LTD. My car has LPG and before I took out the original ECU, I recorded what wires the sprintgas gas ECU tapped into. When installing the later model DL V8 ECU, I connected the wires from the gas ECU.
The car fired up and runs on gas however there is a singing relay that is buzzing at a high frequency whenever the car is running on LPG. The buzzing is gone when its running on petrol though. My question: Is there a different setting between EB-ED V8s and EF-EL V8s in terms of how the LPG ECU is programmed? I'm thinking that the buzzing relay may be a poor connection somewhere instead but I'm not entirely sure. |

EB ED would be EECIV, and EF EL Would be EECV, so my guess is there is a difference in what the ECU's do and how they are pinned out

Well you need to track the relay down - is it relay related to the LPG install (most likely)? AFAIK the only relays that come to mind with aftermarket mixer/converter LPG installs are for switching the O2 sensor output, fuel gauge input (if the cluster indicator is used for both), and shutting the injectors down on LPG.

I checked the AEB website to double check my wiring and it is 100% correct. I have 4 wires that intercept the o2 sensors(polarity correct), 2 yellow wires that intercept the fuel pump, TPS signal wire and a PIP sensor signal wire
I opened up the lpg ecu box and I found the buzzing relay. I also found a couple of potentiometers and a small jumper switch. I'm going to have to have another look and see if I can identify what the relay belongs to and get back. This is the final step of a relatively easy dash conversion from ED to EF. |

Also another point. When I went for a run yesterday while I was running on gas, the thing cut out, ie, it stopped humming and switched to petrol briefly before going back to gas.
EDIT: 2 wires from the LPG module intercept the ignition 12v wires from the salt & pepper plugs at the rear of the inlet manifold. These were the wrong way around and the relay was getting a reversed polarity. All fixed now. Cheers. |
