Hey guys,
A couple of weeks ago my dad and i serviced my car. (EL Futura I6 Dual Fuel) Now we changed oil, oil filter, spark plugs and air filter. Now the car runs fine on petrol but on gas when doing low speed manoeuvres the rpms drop and stalls. It doesn't stall all the time, just randomly. My dad thinks its the spark plugs we used, because the one's that were in there previously were a 4-leg or something? The ones we replaced it with were 1-leg ones. Although the new ones are 'Gas' plugs. Any help appreciated! -del |

Revs dropping just before stalling. Runs perfect on petrol so wouldnt be the leads, but will check that out tomorrow. thanks.

Wish I could help you, but I'm having the same problem! (Auto stalling, runs fine on petrol). Again I am having problems whenever it gets down to around 800-1000 rpm, generally the car will shudder and sometimes it stalls. It used to be going around corners mostly, but today it stalled twice pulling up at red lights.
My leads and plugs are both very new and the gas has been tuned regularly, last time it was apparently a little bit lean (but not significantly so) so I'm beginning to suspect it might be something more sinister than just a problem with the tuning. / Anyway, sorry to hijack your thread, but I will watch replies with interest. When you find a solution please post it! |

anyone else?? gas will show any ignition system properly long before petrol will, so it is possibly wrong plugs, incorrect plug gaps, faulty lead etc. |

TFI mounted on dizzy is of poor construction and design. It gets too hot and eventually dies. Oh and the cap and rotor My el is very sensitive to inlet manifold pressure but that may be just mine. Check all your hoses as when they get warm they leak if not fitted correctly. pcv valve etc
Check all earths loose broken or corroded wires etc and spray all loom connections with water dispersant. It can be a combination of poor maintenance and a greaterNO> of statistically predictable failure of ford components. Quicker under any heat stress!!! Its not just door handles like with the old xd-xf. Im appalled at the ability of these vehicles to leave so many cars stalling in dangerous positions. Taking the driver totally unaware. If 1 plane stalled engineers, media and airline industry would pour over the wreckage. My EL won't start With a weak yellow spark I wish I could get it out of park My patience is wearing thin If it doesn't start soon Its going in the bin |

Idle speed may be too low/Idle speed controller may be malfunctioning.
Just thinking aloud really... low speed maneouvres = additional load on engine care of power steering pump. EEC usually compensates by increasing idle, if it were not/were unable to increase the idle speed, it may cause the engine to stall. Double check igntion system as its easy/free - quality/connection of leads... appropriate spark plug and gap (should be 1 heat range cooler than standard w/ 1.1mm gap).

this use to (no still does) happen to my 6 cyl au falcon periodically, every 15 to 20 thou kms. even geting it tuned at the gas place didnt fix it always. i fix it when it comes back by making adjustment on the converter, then road test it until it goes away. just turn the bolt with the spring, shouldnt have to go any more than 3 or 4 turns max, just remember how many times you turn incase.
