Next step for you: LIQUID INJECTION! :)

WHAT fuel pump failure issues??? :?

We have two Liquid Injected cars and both of them have worked fine for a year and a year and a half respectively...

Plus I have NEVER heard a single complaint either here or on FF from a disgruntled owner of an LI car with a failed pump.

Only failures i head of were in the testing stage, but like everything man made, I'm sure there has been a couple of isolated failures. Nothing man made is perfect or "breakdown proof" lol.

Cheers

I'm sure if the pumps were a weak link, we'd hear about it by now. There are quite a few members here and on FF with LI so I doubt the pumps are an issue unless you're extremely unlucky (but then it'd be replaced under warranty anyway).

You haven't spoken to the right people then.

Those pumps function in a similar way to a petrol pump. Petrol pumps are rarely a cause of trouble unless you constantly run the tank dry, which is impossible on a liquid injection system because the system always keeps a minimum of 5-6 litres in the tank to keep the pump happy.

There are heaps of people with liquid injection (both ICOM JTG and Orbital LPI) on Ford Forums and not a single one has complained about a failing pump.

Remember, liquid injection has been successfully utilised in Europe for over a decade now, so it's not exactly unproven technology...

You've misunderstood me.

I never said that they NEVER fail. My point is that they don't fail every other year like what you're trying to suggest.

The pumps are designed to last at least ten years under normal conditions.

I'm not trying to start an argument here.

But saying I'm talking to the wrong people is a little strange. I'm open to anyone's experience, and unfortunately I've spoken to enough people that have had problems with pumps overheating during summer in the northern half of the country. I'm just not prepared to fit the systems to customers cars until they have proven them selves to be reliable.

As it is, I'm not %100 happy with the vapour systems, needing converter rebuilds at 100 000km due to incompatibility issues with some gaskets and engine coolant. But at least you don't need to empty tanks to fix that.
