Some people have asked for pics of various gas injection installs, here are a few to get this under way. Regards TPVM.

Gee that's quite a messy system with the hoses and wiring everywhere. Looks horrible (no offence).
Here's what the Orbital Liquid Injection system looks like under the hood. Attachment: orbital-1.jpg Attachment: orbital-2.jpg

None taken. It does have a lot of plumbing to fit. That's the trouble with the injector blocks rather than individual injectors. Yours is very neat, do you have any problems filling up on hot days with the liquid injection.
Regards TPVM.

One has the Orbital system (as illustrated) and the other has the ICOM JTG system. Filling in the summer is dependent on the pump at the servo. If the first servo can't fill the tank, chances are the second one will. This also applies for our gas injected VZ Commodore. It's good to fill up late at night or early in the morning if the ambient temperature is high.

Yes I had heard that because of the in tank pump the tank pressure gets too high for the pumps to overcome. Regards TPVM.

It happens to both pumped (i.e. liquid injection) and non-pumped (i.e. everything else) systems. When the ambient temperature is high, gas pressure increases and so you can fit less in a tank.

Have you tried resetting the ECU? Are you using 98RON petrol (using standard unleaded means that the ECU has to make huge adjustments during switchover)? How old are your spark plugs? Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Was this problem present straight after the conversion or has it appeared well after the conversion?

excuse my ignorance but is the gas injection always duel fuel or can it be fitted as just injected gas on its own?

It does not have to be duel fuel, it does have to have a computer to drive it. I will be posting some pics of my 383ci Clevo with BRC injection & twin T/bodies on A Weiland Tunnel Ram which will use a Wolf ECU [Straight Gas]. Most conversions of late model injected cars are done as duel fuel and they normally work fine on both. It's just easier to add the Gas and leave the petrol there. Regards TPVM.

Do you mean rough fuel switchover? yes and always worse when hot - have suggested insulating fuel rails but suppliers says not neccessary.
Have you tried resetting the ECU? Has been done many times and no success Are you using 98RON petrol (using standard unleaded means that the ECU has to make huge adjustments during switchover)? Using 98 RON. I rad that the purging occurs for 45 sec while running on petrol. Would this cause the mixture to register as rich and then subsequently lean it off thus making it run too lean on conversion? How old are your spark plugs? Brand new at time of conversion Have you checked for vacuum leaks? No I havnt but I assume the fitter / importer has as it has been back a dozen or so time. Was this problem present straight after the conversion or has it appeared well after the conversion? Yes has always been there. But has been getting worse with time. Re other posts I dont think Liquid Injection system can run on straight gas as it needs atleast 45 sec purge time which is illegal with a stationary motor and not very practical. I believe that lpgli is bringing out a high pressure system rather than a high flow system that would make this possible. |

I believe that lpgli is bringing out a high pressure system rather than a high flow system that would make this possible. The actual minimum purge time is usually anywhere between 8 and 20 seconds if I remember correctly. The extra petrol running time is meant to be precautionary. Based on all the information that you've provided me, I am lead to belive that your system may be incorrectly calibrated for your engine.

Gday
I would have thought the same, but 4 injector sets later and 12 tunes it should be ok by now. I did see that 3 of the fuel lines coming off the fuel rail to the injectors are permenantly touching the rocker cover. This maybe causing vaporisation?? |
