I'm in exactly the same position at the moment. I put an El Tickford Gas Ecu in my Ed and am also unsure of where to connect pin 8 to switch between the petrol and gas maps. The car runs on gas and petrol but want to activate the appropriate maps.

well mine is wired up with pin out connected to ground to get the lpg maps ( i know it selects the lpg maps when doing this because the fuel pump shuts down)...when i want petrol maps i disconnect from ground...

I do not apply 12v to pin 8 like others suggest

i had to add in a safety switch to get mine working as the lpg was using the fuel pump relay to get its power when running

if u need a hand with it we could meet up on the weekend as i live in geelong and dont mind showing u how i did it

Thanks for the info mate. I might just ground pin 8 for the moment and figure the rest out later. Thanks for the offer of helping me out I only started looking into this today might have to take you up on that if I dont get anywhere. I didnt know that pin 8 had to be grounded so I guess I have been running the petrol maps all along.

Grounded pin 8 this morning and the car runs very well on gas now. Must have got it right cause the fuel pump is not running. Will look into switching the maps now.

too easy eh....

ive found that the car seems to lauch better on the petrol maps than the lpg maps...

overall very little performance difference but there does seem to be an economy advantage

i got the ecu working on petrol maps. But as is mentioned above when i ground pin 8 i hear a relay near the fuse box clicks and the car cuts out. How have you overcome the car cutting out?

you may have the same problem as i did...

the lpg system needs to have a failsafe system where the lpg solinoids only open when the engine is running....there a 2 ways to do this 1. use a lpg safety switch or 2. use the fuel pump relay to power the lpg sols....

problem is that the tickford lpg ecu shuts down the fuel pump when on the gas maps
mine was done like 2.....i needed to get a safety switch wired up

Did you wire the safety switch up yourself, or do you have to go to lpg installer/auto elect?

the safety switch has generally has 4 wires....

signal ( use tach )
earth (obvious)
power in (from lpg switch)
power out (to solinoids)

So will I have to buy a safety switch and install it myself?
